showing cards face up in hand

Greetings, im trying to get this to work,but nothing i do seems to help.  i want to be able to give everyone a card and have it appear face up in their hands.  there is a button you can click on the deck setup just for this, but it doesn't seem to actually work, as no matter what i do the cards are face down in people's hands. any help would be appreciated as i have scoured around and can't seem to find any answers.

Are you talking about "Played Facing: Face Up"?  That only applies to putting cards on the tabletop. You can set the "In other's hands..." to "Players see: Front of Cards" and then clicking on another player's hand should show you the face rather than the back.  That applies to all cards though, just so you know.

What im trying to do is have the card that is over their Avatar along the bottom of the screen show the front of the card not the back, so you can see everyone's cards at a glance without clicking. (in my game everyone just needs one card).  thanks.

As far as I'm aware, that's not possible.  One workaround would be to set up an area on the VTT for each player, and they could just play their card to the table face up.

Another thing your could do would be to create a character for each card with the card as the character's avatar, then give them control of that character when they draw that card and have them switch to speaking as that card character. That would cause their avatar to be that card.
