Welcome to a classic D&D setting very much like an old school retro video game RPG! Do you love exploring the world and dungeon crawling every chance you can get, but don't care much about story or plot? That's exactly what this campaign is about! Sometimes simple is better and faster too! No worries about a fancy backstory or any backstory at all for that matter! Swords & Sorcery is all about character building, finding magic items, killing terrifying monsters, delving into lost dungeons, and getting filthy rich. Want to go to that dangerous cave you heard about and just kill a bunch of monsters, get the treasure and return to town and sell it, buy better stuff, rinse and repeat? Do it! Make no mistake I am trying to capture an OSR or Old School Vibe of past versions of D&D and the going will be tough. In fact, you will probably die but don't give up that easy! The greater the risk, the greater the reward! I will be homebrewing several elements of the game to make it more challenging, faster, and more cool! Also Magic items don't need any kind of identification, you just know what it does automatically! Want to travel back to town because you want to sell/buy something but just hate how long traveling takes? I won't let travel bog down the game, so if you want go somewhere then you will be there almost instantly, unless you encounter monsters! Don't like to roleplay much? Just say what your character does and that is enough, no need to get fancy or anything. Many of the rules that overly complicate or simply slow the game down will be either bent or tossed out entirely and rules that aren't cool enough will be made more cool to make the game more fun, exciting, and satisfying. Epic, Inspiring and Vibrant world setting! (Similar in style to **Might & Magic** if you are familiar) Get mysterious and powerful magic items faster than most D&D games! Start at Level 10! If you are tired of starting at low levels in other games, look no further! More choices! Choose from any of the standard races or classes or go for something special such as custom classes, custom races, unofficial classes/races. Your imagination is the limit! (Subject to DM approval) Survive in an Ancient and Savage Land You and your companions have fled war and famine in your homeland and embarked on a dangerous voyage across the ocean to seek glory and treasure in a new land. Things did not go as planned though and before you could make landfall a terrible monster from the depths of the sea crushed your ship and nearly you along with it. Barely alive, you wash ashore only to discover a land far more deadly and mysterious than you ever realized. Vast jungles, blazing deserts, unholy temples, and ancient kingdoms spread across this unrelenting and magical continent. Only those who are truly mighty and fearless will be able to overcome monsters of legend and claim the untold riches and items of mythical power. Game Details Campaign: Swords & Sorcery Date: Weekly sessions every Wednesday Time: 10:00 PM CDT (UTC -5) Place: Virtual tabletop on Roll20, voice chat on Discord Number of Players: 4 to 6 Duration: Sessions last about 3 hours Payment: $9 per session via PayPal Refunds: I issue refunds when sessions are cancelled, for any reason Roll20's required payment disclaimer: "This game will require payment to the Game Master at a rate of $9 per session via PayPal. Roll20 is not responsible for any payment transactions and cannot enforce any private arrangements." Why Pay to Play? These days too many people are trying to get into a free game, but there just aren't enough experienced and decent DMs to meet the demand. Very often players spend their valuable time filling out applications and get rejected time and time again because free games fill up too fast. When you finally do get accepted you will have to deal with players that don't show up or worse, the DM doesn't show up or is unprepared and inexperienced. It's a very negative experience to go through constantly when all you want to do is have a good time and relax. Here are some compelling reasons why professionally-run paid games are a vastly superior experience: Avoid the difficulty of getting accepted into a game, don't wait days or weeks to hear back from the DM, get in quick! Charging a small fee nearly eliminates no-shows. A modest fee also ensures that everyone in the group is committed to the game and responsible. People will not just abandon the group and quit the game when something doesn't go the way they want. The game experience you will get from a professional DM is far more enjoyable and immersive than a free game could ever provide. Maturity level is much higher in paid games. Different voices for each NPC including accents when possible. A prepared Dungeon Master who is well invested in the Campaign. An immersive and dynamic roleplaying experience with detailed descriptions of everything. Custom music tracks integrated into Roll20 for realistic atmosphere and immersion. Access to additional subraces, subclasses, feats, spells and more with the DM's shared access compendium to Tasha's Cauldron of Everything, Xanathar's Guide to Everything and the Player's Handbook! All the benefits of the DM's Roll20 Pro membership which gives players access to extras such as, D&D 5e Compendium integration, API Scripts, and more. Help for Beginners. Sandbox style adventuring (no railroading). YOU are the hero of the story and your choices matter, everything that happens in the world is interwoven around what you do and don't do. About the Dungeon Master I have been running Dungeons and Dragons for over 20 years. Over the course of my extensive experience I have run short campaigns and long term campaigns lasting several years. I have a passion for creating living stories and adventures that my players can experience in a fantastical world. I strive to create an exciting world full of intriguing mysteries, alluring treasure, and deep NPCs that are rewarding to discover. I endeavor to create a highly immersive experience that is unmatched, such as extremely descriptive game environments, exciting and dynamic combat full of interactive opportunities, freedom of choice, and atmospheric music that changes based on the mood and situation. Furthermore, I love roleplaying and creating realistic voices for NPCs and acting them out in a colorful way. I also take great pride in creating custom characters, stories, and encounters not included in the written material to keep things interesting! Above all I want to make sure that everyone has a good time and gets the experience they wanted. I will strive to help you create your character and a backstory if desired. I welcome both new and experienced players to my game! Character Creation All Characters begin at level 10 (Feel free to Multi-class if you wish).
