The morning of January 11th, 1923. The four investigators still present had breakfast together, discussing their plans about Charenton and the director. They questioned whether they should investigate Guimart as well, and what to look for in general. They made their way back to Charenton, having put together a plan beforehand. Dennis and John went snooping around the place, while Hazan and Isaac spoke with the clerk to secure Hazan an appointment with Dr. Leroux, the director. Dennis and John entered the basement, finding the area quite inhospitable and dark. There was a room down there that had apparently been bricked up until recently, finding a lot of dust and a stain that seemed incredibly odd. A small amount of mist began to coalesce in the area, and the two decided to leave at that. Hazan and Isaac were brought to the anteroom to the director's office, introduced to his secretary Madame Rogniat and both of them noticing the open crates around the area, as well as a diary that seemed to have belonged to Delplace before he died. They concocted a scheme- the secretary not being able to speak English- and the two convincingly knocked over the crate with the diary inside. They saw many documents pertaining to Delplace and his office and papers as they helped Rogniat put everything back together- one of them sneaking the diary into their pocket while doing so. After that, Leroux came out and introduced himself to the both of them, and they had a chat in his office. He apologized that they did not currently have an opening, but he suggested Hazan not be a stranger and gave her his telegram address and phone number, in case there was anything she wanted to speak about- particularly psychologically. They spoke some about the electroshock machine he was working on, as well as the treatment of patients in Charenton. Hazan noticed that, while he didn't hate Delplace, he enjoyed the fact he was the new director. The three of them made their apologies and the two departed- but not before asking about Fenalik. Leroux explained that it was even kept as a secret in Charenton to this day, regardless of how long ago it was, because of it's connection to the revolution and nobility. Unfortunately, he did not have much else to say about it, and avoided much else. Meanwhile, Dennis and John managed to find the location of their friend Paul Mandrin, who they met up with. They convinced him to let them speak to Guimart, and he took them to him. On the way, Dennis thought he saw a man standing over a dead body, but John was able to reassure him that nothing was there. Guimart was in a padded cell, muttering to himself constantly in French. Mandrin accepted being their translator, asking Guimart their questions about the basement, Dr. Leroux, and Fenalik. He was only able to get out a few things: the words "bones," "basement," "greed," "gold," and "rings." When John had him ask specifically "What happened with the queen?" the response was "sleeping." They then went back to the entrance hall. The four of them grouped up once more, they decided to get lunch and pore over the diary they had found. Isaac was able to make out some important excerpts. It spoke about Guimart's attack, and a mysterious patient who Delplace was working on before his death with electroshock. They discussed this mystery patient and Leroux's experimentation. Finally, they elected to find flashlights and explore the basement altogether. Back at Charenton, they entered the basement once more (though for Hazan and Isaac it was the first time), and went back to the room they had found. A foul smell, like a corpse, permeated the air, and a small layer of mist gather around their ankles. The stain was definitely blood, and recent blood as well- not more than a week old according to Dennis. Finally, after searching the rest of the basement, Dennis elected that they had exhausted the clues in Charenton, and that there might not be more there for them. There was some more discussion about what exactly to do next. Dennis had a nagging feeling they had forgotten something, and the suggestion they came to was that they look more into the Comte's mansion in Poissy. After more heated debate, they returned once more to the Bibliotheque Nationale. There, they found information on the Comte's villa as well as a set of plans for the place. Seeing the plans, and the absolute ridiculous and inanity of them, Dennis flipped out. He started seeing fezzes on everybody's heads, and grabbed a chair to throw at someone. He started throwing books at the people in the reading room, and was forcibly removed by security. The other three investigators copied down the plans with Remi's help, and they elected to go to Poissy the next day, allowing Dennis some rest before anything else happened. His visa to read in the reading room had also been revoked. The next day, January 12th, 1923, they immediately got on a train to Poissy. Eating breakfast in the dining car, they watched the vistas of the French countryside pass by, seeing the beauty of the area before arriving in Poissy. After a failure in the town hall, they entered the chemist's store. Inquiring about how to soothe a man who was insane, they got two syringes of heroin for Dennis to use when he needed, just in case. They also convinced the Monsieur to translate for them at the town hall, paying him two full bucks for the work for the day. Back at town hall, they were allowed entrance into the archives, and finally got the address, current owners, and history of the Comte' villa, right outside the town...
