Creating better looking tokens...

Hello Roll 20 team! I have tried looking for this elsewhere, but have so far been unable to find an answer... Is there a simple way to create new tokens that have a professional looking "round", golden or otherwise border, like a lot of the resource tokens that come with campaign packs? My party and I are currently playing through Lost Mines, and I would like to create new tokens that are in keeping with the rest of the art style, rather than just square mini-versions of the artwork I am importing. I am also wondering if there is a way of maintaining token settings across different pages? So we don't need to set what the token "bubbles" stand for each time we move to a new area (green for hp, blue for ac etc.) Many thanks in advance, and for all the other amazing advice on here! :-)

I use a program called TokenTool 2 to make tokens for my 13th Age Glorantha game. The current version can even open PDF files so I can make tokens using the artwork in my RuneQuest PDFs. I’ve seen someone post a border image similar to that used by the D&D tokens. Making the bubbles and bars consistent is done with Default Tokens in Journal entries. It’s documented in the Help Center: https://help.roll20.net/hc/en-us/articles/360039715593-Linking-Tokens-to-Journals

For very quick jobs, it's hard to beat Token Stamp II from Roll Advantage. It's browser based, drag and drop, with color, shape, and background options.

the Token Stamp link, as above from keithcurtis, is recommended (by me, to my players). Google "token stamp" and it comes up. It's so easy to use that I've had several of my Players figure out how to use it for making their own PC tokens, when they aren't graphic artists normally or highly technical at all.

Yep, was going to recommend token stamp as well. It even has a pretty close facsimile of the official token border.

One of my players has recently been making tokens with that border, and I know he doesn't have the technical affinity to do that with an image editing tool.

Wonder what it would take for a Basic version of that functionality to be built-in to roll20 tabletop as either a Feature (probably; by 2029) or as an API Script (asking y'all if that's even possible)? Right-Click an image in your tabletop, choose "Convert to Circle Token", and the new circled image appear on the tabletop.
you could also download tokentool, which is (if I remember correctly) free.

I've used tokenstamp and tokentool, and token stamp is great to produce quick tokens, but I prefer token tool for the greater control and extra abilities it gives you (like extracting images from pdfs). But both are useful tools to have available.

Personally, I'd like token border rings that work exactly like the status effect icons in every respect (UI and functionality) -- status effect icons are simply overlay images placed with certain style parameters, and you can use the Token Features tools to toggle them on/off. How about adding token rings (or other global token styles) the same way? If you re-think the Status Effects library as more of a "Token Styles" library, you can really expand the options available for what we can do with tokens using that UI interface. That's an incredibly powerful UI tool that's currently only leveraged for status effects. Imagine managing a set of token border rings alongside your custom status effects that you can apply to any/all tokens by toggling them on/off, or simply setting one as a default in your game styles. Gosh, this is a pretty good idea. I wonder how difficult it would be to expand the uses of the "status effect" system to support other token style features like borders.

This is fantastic, thank you so much! Many new tokens down the line later, and after watching a few tutorials, my game looks much more professional and I feel confident I will be able to keep token settings between pages now. Thanks so much for your help. :-)
