Problems with subtraction should be simple

I am probably missing something simple. I would like to build a to-hit macro for my 2e game. To do this i am having a 1d20 roll, then add applicable bonus from character sheet and then subtracted from the Characters Thac0 from their sheet. I assume i would use something like /roll 1d20 +(@{charname|strengthhit})-@{charname|ThAC0} However this keep turning the Thac0 into a negative number. my results being; rolling 1d20 +(+1)-19 (9)+(1)-19 = -9 My results should be Positive 9, not Negative 9. What am I doing wrong?

If you're subtracting all that FROM the ThAC0, then formula would be something like: /roll @{charname|ThAC0} - (1d20 + @{charname|strengthhit})
Thanks!
