Game: D&D 5e Group type: Online Experience: 17 years playing. 7 years DMing. Location/Timezone: EST timezone. Schedule: I can play Monday-Thusday 8pm-12am. I dont have much flexibility on the time. Roles sought: I'm looking at 4-5 players. Potentially a sixth, but combat can get bogged down beyond 5. Game style: I tend towards the RP style when I play and I strongly encourage RP and group interaction. I'll try to keep the story moving at natural pace, but sometimes you have a shopping episode. I like to challenge my group in combat as well. Enemies will use their typical tactics, be smart according to intelligence scores, and they will be modified with new abilities/scores to keep you on your toes. I also enjoy a player driven story, so a backstory for your character is a requirement. Now this will be a Homebrew World. I'm still in the stages of development, but I have enough that I could start a campaign in a few weeks time. I'm looking for a group to go ahead and create characters so I can weave their stories into the world. I'm looking for players who aren't afraid to get into character and rarely leave it until the session ends. Players who aren't afraid to interact with the world and grow their characters beyond just your typical hack and slash hero. I'd prefer players who have good knowledge of the game, but its not necessarily required. Also I'm looking for people who can leave their egos at the door and truly inhabit the team spirit. D&D is not a one woman/man show. Its the journey we take together and just have fun with! So if you're planning to grandstand the whole time please do us a favor and pass on this one. This is also a safe space! There is a zero tolerance policy on hate of any kind in this group. We are LGBTQ+ friendly and supportive! The only racial tension will be IN GAME. I will touch on that later, but any hate due to racial background or religious background will see you thrown from the game IMMEDIATELY. Yes that includes mid session, mid combat, mid anything. Side note: We will have a session zero to go over expectations. I want you to express any expectations you have of me and I will do the same for you. Characters will be made beforehand and gone over during the interview process. Use 4d6 drop the lowest for generating stats. WARNING: I MAY ADJUST YOUR ABILITY SCORES DURING SESSION ZERO WHEN THE GROUP IS FORMED. TYPICALLY I INCREASE LOW STATS OR GIVE AN 18 IN KEY STATS. OTHER ABILITIES MAY BE LOWERED TO COMPENSATE BUT NEVER BELOW AN 8 OR 10. YOU ALL ARE HEROES AND I WANT YOU TO FEEL THAT, BUT YOU CAN'T BE GOOD AT EVERYTHING. Now to follow up on that. If you dont want your stats adjusted at all. We don't have to. Sometimes you just roll really well or really poorly. Typically I will see an ability score that is useful to the class and offer a 16 or 17. The trade off is taking a lower score in a dump stat so you really feel the effect of your weaknesses, but also your strengths. Beyond that I have no limitations on published WotC classes or races. UA and homebrew will not be allowed. Health can be rolled or you can take the average. On level up you decide but you MUST take the result. You can't roll and then decide average if you roll low. Ones will be rerolled. Start at level 2! When the campaign starts we will be level 3, but make your characters level 2 to start. Please include your favorite color so I know you read this part and your favorite baked good so I know you read warning. Now with all that out of the way I would like to be upfront about a few things. I have a young daughter at home and she will require my attention from time to time. Somedays its more than others. So expect interruptions and I apologize for them in advance. I want to play this weekly, but I can get very busy very quickly. I will always try to give you 24 hours notice before cancellation of a session. I will not guarantee 4 sessions a month, but at least 2! So I will be lenient with attendance until it becomes an issue. Discord and voice is a requirement. I would like to use video if everyone is comfortable with it. This will be a good amount of theater of the mind and maps will typicallyonly be displayed for battles similar to critical role. With that being said... I AM NOT ON THE LEVEL OF MERCER. If you are expecting a critical role experience please save yourself the trouble of applying. I'm rusty with roll20 Mechanic's, but please bare with me.
