The train pulls into Lausanne as everyone wakes, having different memories of what occurred in their dreams. They disembarked, gathering their luggage and taking it to a cafe across the street. They spoke, realizing in conversation that they had all had similar dreams, taking place in a town full of cats as well as a train made of beasts. It was difficult to tell what it meant, but Hazan did notify them that she had the bag she had been given by Henri in the dream. John slowly began to remember bits and pieces of the dream, recalling Henri Peeters, his conversation with him (in fragments), the stokers he had seen and the blackjack with cats. They also read the newspaper at the cafe, finding an interesting article about a body that had been found in the British Museum and Library, that had been skinned and a note about the Skinless one on it. Their next destination was the Societe Generale, where they opened up a deposit box to put the Simulacrum arm in. They handed the bag over to the clerk, and John made sure each of his friends would be able to retrieve the arm if necessary. They then made their way to a hotel in the center of town, leaving their luggage there and grabbing a map as they decided to find the Edgar Wellington they had read about from the letter the Loriens had had. They found the place was a taxidermist's, and old and run down on the outside. Knocking, the door was opened by one Edgar Wellington himself, who invited them inside, pleased and curious at having visitors, particularly English-speaking ones. He brought them upstairs to tea, making room for them in the kitchen. He made a bit of small talk with them, before Isaac brought up the Lorien's letter, though that was interrupted by another man entering the kitchen. He was introduced as Edgar's brother, and had a notebook in order to communicate given he was mute. He made acquaintances of them all and joined them for tea. The group spoke with the Wellingtons about scroll, and Edgar told them what he knew. He had acquired it during the war, stated he was unable to translate much of it, that it spoke of the Sedefkar Simulacrum, and the owner of that particular artifact was some noble named Fenalik. He asked if they were interested, and the group was hesitant to state whether they were or not. Regardless, he suggested a very, very high price, when the doorbell was rung and he ran to answer it. William chatted a little about Lausanne and the weather, letting the investigators know that they had competition in regards to the scroll. Edgar then brought in another friend of his, one 'Duc Jean Floressas des Esseintes.' He explained he was an occultist as well, and also interested in the scroll. The Duke remarked that he would prefer to see it before he bid on it. Checking the time, Edgar saw he had much to do, and so began to clean up while ushering the group out, including the Duke. At the last moment, he had an epiphany, and asked the Duke to give them a tour of Lausanne. The Duke agreed, and they began to walk uphill towards the Cathedral, as the Duke properly was introduced to each member of the party.
