Green Glows the Moon part III: The Wrath of the Wraith as told by Jereboam Well after the battle of Korthos I decided to expand my
horizons and visit the town of Hope. Not
only is it a busy place but I could also buy some useful bits of gear now that
I was flush with coin. I got a really well
made shield that would let me equip or stow it in no time at all. I also got a torch bracket attached to the shield
so I could light my way in the darkness.
After a few days of relaxing I joined up with a likely group of adventurers
who were returning to a dungeon which was the source of a strange green glow. Joining me were Bellas Emberkeep a Firbolg Cleric, Vilkya a
pale elfess and ranger, Nelathrell a celestial warrior, Isaa a hyperactive
halfling monk and Azhad, a boastful bard. We made our way South and the first day passed without
trouble. That night, however, while I
was chatting with Vilkya we were attacked by giant spiders and their strange
half spider master. We dealt with the
pretty easily except that poor Vilkya was knocked unconscious and the spider
beast tried to run away with her!
Luckily some of our faster movers like Isaa chased it down and Bellas
was able to heal her. The next morning saw us arrive at the strange dungeon. Vilkya and Nelathrell had been there before
and told us that there were lots of undead to be expected and perhaps giant
spiders as well. I took the lead and we
headed East down a corridor. Here I was
told there was a secret door in a closet but I couldn’t find it no matter how
hard I tried. Vilkya took over and
opened the door, finding a nasty Wraith on the other side of it! The evil thing didn’t fight fair, continually
moving through stone to escape our attacks.
I was able to catch it with a javelin or two and then Nelathrell, Isaa
and I managed to drive it off before it could kill anyone, though it did a fair
bit of damage to a couple of us. We kept going East and then turned North though an area
already explored by the previous team.
WE continued on and found a locked door.
Vilkya had a key but it didn’t fit!
We pondered what to do and then decided to explore some other rooms that
had been skipped by the older crew. We went back the way we came and then headed West. This led to a corridor which was filled with
rubble. There was nothing for it but to
put our backs into it and clear the rubble while some of the injured
rested. We made our way into another
room filled with coffins and when Vilkya opened a door to the North we were
attacked by a skeleton warrior in heavy armour.
At the same time the bloody wraith attacked again too. It was a really tough fight with Vilkya, being hit by the wraith
as was Azhad, who barely survived. Poor
Bellas was killed by the creature before we were able to strike it down. My magic two hander came in real handy as the
wraith was resistant to regular weapons.
In the end we destroyed both of the undead with Isaa really laying a
beating on the skeleton.
We found a good bit of loot and so decided to return to Hope
and see if Ulman Dark could revive Bellas.
It cost us most of our gold and gems but it worked! All in all a pretty good adventure, though I
think there’s more to do there.
