I think I could sneak in this session.   If so Invictus Sanctimonius Lautanus, the Ocean's Wrath (Level 1 Triton Paladin) could join this quest!

Stupid dragon! If it had never returned I’d still be living like a king atop my pile of gold. Well his pile of gold technically, but still he left and didn't return for years! What was I supposed to do? Just sit and stare at that oh-so-massive hoard of gold? I think not! Anyways he should be singing my praise! In his absence I grew his hoard for him. Kobolds continued to give tribute to the mighty “Grondis, Eye of the Tempest,” I made up the title and don’t get me wrong, Grondis is a wonderful name but it needed a bit more flare to really instill fear in my new followers. Instead of praise I was sent out to the savage frontier to finish the job old, “mighty” Grondis could not finish: retrieving the orb that was stolen from him by a group of adventurers. He didn’t even let me keep the small diamond I had used to convince the other kobolds of my affinity to lightning. No matter I would find a way to reacquire that power and much more, and who knows maybe with the help of this orb I can overthrow Grondis and retake what was once mine that was taken from him!  And now I find myself standing in front of the Stuck Pig Inn awaiting on the other members of my party to arrive. I had browsed the local rumor board and not seeing any mention of this orb I was searching for, I allowed myself to lean towards a slightly more selfish job. A local man with some wealth was in need of adventurers to go in search of his daughter. In return he would provide each adventurer with a horse and more importantly 50 gold pieces, just enough to maybe resecrue the diamond that Grondis had denied to me when I had originally set out on this quest for him. Dex, the purple tiefling was the first to arrive. Without so much as a single sound she appeared out of what appeared to be thin air, or I might have been unaware of her approach as I was daydreaming of the riches of my hoard. In stark contrast, Invictus, the triton paladin, made plenty of noise as he approached. He made a mention of a King Icarus so I’m thinking that he must be pretty high in his society of he is rubbing elbows with royalty. Regardless, I knew who I would choose to stand behind should I ever feel threatened! Next there was Narc, the lizardfolk. By his appearance I would classify him as some sort of survivalist, a handy type to have on any adventure into the wild. Finally our final member was a holy man by the name of Brynnan. A wholesome type which, after browsing the population of Hope, seems pretty rare in Hope. With a common purpose driving us, we began our journey North, or so we thought! I guess I was just too entertaining with my array of lightning tricks that I must have distracted Narc. Before we knew it we found ourselves not North but West of hope at the edge of the renowned mausoleum. We had all head stories of this place and while most of us elected to remain towards the edge of the crater, Dex pushed in to investigate a statue of a dwarf. FInding nothing of value we left that accursed place and made camp a ways off.  That night an opportunity arose as I stood watch with Invictus. He addressed me as a dragon, and for a brief moment I saw an opportunity to regain some of the power that I had lost. In the end however, I decided to  be honest with the man who might very well save me in the near future. I told him about the dragon and my quest. Turns out he too seeks an item found somewhere in this terrible place, and while I see myself as an imposter, don’t get me wrong I was really good at pretending to be the dragon but no where close in power, he is confident that one day, with the right help, might be able to overthrow this dragon. Taken back from his sentiments, I reassured him that I would also keep and eye out for this song he was searching for. The next morning we awoke well rested and with a positive attitude and hope we set off to the North East trying to correct our course. We were successful and along the way past two tall obelisks we were set upon by some sort of sentient fungi-type creatures, and while we were successful in felling our foes, it was a healthy reminder of just how fragile we were out here. Invictus proved to be most valuable in running around and returning the fallen, including myself, to consciousness. I made the right choice in being honest with my companions. As the final fungal creature was slain Brynnan uses a bit of holy magic to return Dex to consciousness. Truly a wholesome character, but alas no good deed goes unpunished especially here. That night as we were resting to recuperate our strength, Brynnan was caught unaware with his pants down so to say by a swarm of snakes. I awoke to his cry of pain, but realizing that it may already be too late to save him, I readied myself to attack should the swarm of snakes continue to advance on our campsite.  Turns out that they were most likely defending their home and only attacked poor Brynnan because he got a bit too close to their nest. Once they had cleared away back into their home, we carefully gathered Brynnan’s body and buried it near the campsite. We took his holy amulet as a token to return to those he left behind. Then the most unlikely thing happened. Out of the wilderness strode a bard named singing and playing music. Upon seeing us gatherer solemnly around the fresh grave of our late companion, he offered to sing a song in honor of Brynnan. It seemed like a sweet gesture so we bid him to perform his song, only it seemed to only honor himself and not the fallen Brynnan. I swear inbetween the flickering light of the campfire I saw a murderous look appear on Dex’s face. Despite this setback we were short one member and Azhad volunteered to accompany us for the remainder of the quest. Pressing onward following a set of tracks that Narc had discovered the previous night, we arrived at the site of some ancient ruins. In the distant we could see some sort of large bird in a wooden pen. Dex scouted ahead and when we were given a signal, that Azhad said he understood, we approached. Unfortunately in my haste to catch up to dex, I fell into a pitfall trap taking a rather healthy sum of damage. Fearing enemies nearby, I cast an illusion of a 5 ft boulder and hit within the illusion. Hearing the fighting begin in earnest above I decided that I couldn’t leave my friends up there to fight without any assistance. So calling upon the storm inside of my, I flew out of the pit and cast a thick fog cloud obscuring our group from several of the enemies. What follows is a testament to team work, the dangers of the savage frontier, and the power of bears. After obscuring the bandit’s view with the fog, we managed to eliminate the few kenku, a birdman type creature well rehearsed in mimicry, and a swarm of raven that were on our side of the fog. Just as we though the battle was won, a second wavo of bandits approached. Apparently this group was gambling in the larger building to the North when one of the previously injured and fleeing kenku alerted them to what was happening outside. Using the fog as cover, I attempted to pepper the bandit’s with flames, but as the battle raged on I watched as one by one my companions were felled. The mighty and selfless Invictus rushed head first to the front lines to stabilize the unconscious forms of Azhad and Narc. I lost sight of him at that point as he cast his own fog of cloud to provide himself cover, but a little over fifteen seconds later the cloud was released revealing Icarus’ body having also fallen. Only Dex and I were still standing and my own fog cloud was about to vanish. Alerting Dex to what was about to happen, I dashed into the Eastern room, where we had discovered a bear chained to the back wall. Gambling that the chain would save me, I positioned myself as far away inside the room as I could. Turns out fate did not smile on me this day and the bear charged me and with one claw brought me into unconsciousness.  When I awoke, I was back in Hope. According to Dex, after the bear mauled me, he managed to break the chain holding the bear to the wall. Then the furious bear took out its anger on the kenku that had been mistreating it. According to Dex just about every kenku besides the boss made a run for it, terrified of the bear. Only the boss stayed to fight it and ultimately perished and was dragged into the forest by the bear. After the bear left and we were all stabilized, Dex investigated the ruins finding some goods to bring back to Hope to vendor, some axe beaks, and most importantly the daughter of our employer. While Brynnan’s loss was indeed unfortunate and weighs heavy on some of us, our first adventure into the savage frontier was mainly a success. Now I need to hurry up and find a local gem cutter. I need to find a diamond!
The Astounding Adventures of Azhad the Amazing! Uktar 8 th My latest journey comes from my recent arrival to the strange land of the Savage Frontier! What better place to find adventure and spread tales of the most glorious and magnificent Azhad! Upon arriving at Hope I found myself in need of sustenance and suitable refreshments. I came to a tavern, such as it can be described,  to partake in merriment and good beer. I heard tales of many adventurers names such as Tordak, Teres and Pebbles were sung with great acclaim! I decided that this is all well and good, but it is time for Azhad’s heroic story to be shared. I picked the first notice on the quest board and set out into the Harrowmere. Fortunately for the adventurers who had embarked on this journey, Azhad arrived just in time to help! I came across a solemn camp standing above some idiot Brynham, silly name. Apparently, he had his pecker bitten to pieces by some naughty snakes and he died from the poison. Hahaha, this would never happen to Azhad! Amongst my new companions was Dex a serious but sneaky Tiefling, Snax a cheeky Kobold who thinks he is a Dragon, Narc a grumbly rumbly Lizard Man and Invictus who is a very proper fish boy. I said to them that I would sing them a song to lift their spirits and honour the dead. As you can imagine Azhad’s song was very well received, you always got to play the hits. We pressed on in the morning to find the bandits who had stolen local girl, silly billy. We came upon their wooded lair and tried to do the sneaky. Sadly poor Snax fell in a hole, it was bad news and there was the big attack. Surprise! The bandits are big great dirty birds! We attack but it is very bad. Dex keeps falling over and Azhad must return her to consciousness with the old songs. Snax jumps from his hole and dumps a great big foggy cloud in the middle of the battle! I am hit by several quarrels and arrows, very bad, very painful. And then, a shock! In my delirious state, cheeky Snax releases a great bloody bear! The bear is no doubt a fan of the magnificent Azhad! They chase off the bandits into the forest! Cowardly birds! Amongst their hideout, we are able to recover the silly girl and return to Hope victorious! Another triumph for the magnificent Azhad, Huzzah! PS dear reader I have been awarded a new horse! I will call him Bryn’ham in respectful honour of the fallen snake pecker boy.
Cry Brynnan and let slip the bears of war Mon Dieu! This adventuring is a brutal business.   I met my companions outside the Stuck Pig. Brash Invictus , the Triton, inspired confidence in those around him. The Lizardfolk, Narc , looked like he might understand the ways of the wild. The nervy Kobold, Snax , spoke about the dragon hoard he’d been recently “relieved” of. Lastly, the angelic looking Brynnan made me feel safe with his calming presence. We had gathered to rescue a poor girl who had gone missing with her family offering a horse and gold as payment for her return. What could possibly go wrong? Well, for a start, we should probably head in the right direction? Not sure what Narc was doing but we ended up heading West and reaching the dreaded Mausoleum I’ve heard people mention. Correcting ourselves, we got out of there pretty quickly (although not before I found a “secret” draw that had a message scrawled in it saying “Reginald has the key” which will need some investigation!). As we camped that evening, I thought I heard Snax mention he was looking for some sort of Orb while Invictus was also seeking something… but sleep took me before I could hear more. It’s nice to have friends, I’ve missed that since I set out on my own. As we moved through the swamp the following day, we were ambushed by some flying creatures. As I took aim with my trusty crossbow, we were also surprised by some sort of mushroom predator. With things swooping from above, we fought but at some point one landed a blow and I passed out. I awoke to the sight of Brynnan standing over me and blasting the final enemy… my hero! Alas, I did not get a chance to truly express my thanks before he was taken from us. As we camped, it seems he stumbled into a pit of snakes while relieving himself. He was dead before we could respond. Rest in peace my sweet prince… Wandering the wilderness, we were then joined by a bard called Azhad . I have to admit that my initial impression of this annoying, self-absorbed, show pony may have been a little harsh… but who sings about themselves at someone else’s funeral?   When morning came, we pressed on. Following some strange tracks Narc had found. Spotting some ruins up ahead, I asked the team to wait while I scouted it out. Creeping forward through the woods (and avoiding the obvious path) I managed to spot a few odd creatures at the northern most building. They looked like they were praying so I figured the rest could move up quietly. I signalled for the others to come forward and Azhad nodded in understanding. I snuck back to watch the distant figures. Suddenly chaos erupted. Out of nowhere, a Kenku came charging at me and the world went black. Then I suddenly woke again with Azhad gesturing at me. My crossbow was lying several feet away but as I reached for it, I was again struck down by the Kenku but something deep inside refused to give in and I managed to grab my weapon and fire at the bastard… missing horribly (merde!). Then a blanket of fog erupted over the area and the Kenku went running north.   Looking around, I could see the other looked pretty battered… how had so many enemies been aware of our presence? Feeling a little woozy, I took cover behind a statue and began taking shots at the wave of Kenku who appeared. I couldn’t see what was happening with the others but there were a lot of arrows raining down on them. I saw people fall a few times but Invictus seemed to keep rallying them to him and getting them back on their feet. Then suddenly, he was also covered in fog… I made my way over to the other cloud and Snax was whispering that the cloud might vanish shortly before he ran off to a building shouting something about a bear? No sooner had he said this than both fog clouds dissipated and everyone was unconscious… I looked at Snax in despair but saw a giant bear bearing down on him, without time to think, I fired a shot at the rope binding the beast and rejoiced seeing it sever and free it! Until I realised I had freed it… as it then charged towards me… sinking to my knees and welcoming my inevitable death… the bear ran past me! Praise the ancestors! As it busied itself savaging the Kenku, I managed to stabilise the others before sinking exhaustedly to sit and watch the bear work… After what seemed like hours, I managed to get back to my feet and started to search the buildings. I found several interesting items which I vowed to share with my friends when they woke. It’s what Brynnan would have wanted… I found Lilya (the girl) in one of the rooms. She seemed happy and grateful, if a little surprised at the prone forms of the rest of the group. I also managed to find three axebeaks tied up and somehow convince them not to bite. I can only assume that the Kenku showed them no kindness at all! Once the other awoke, we headed back home while I pondered my new “family” motto - "Libérez l'ours"
Bandit’s Nest – The Snakes of Wrath As told by Invictus Sanctimonius Lautanus, The Ocean’s Wrath As Persana wills it, so shall it be! I’ve been tasked by the great God Persana to retrieve the Enteral Song of Wind and Wave, a family heirloom long stolen and now believed to be in the Savage Frontier.  My trails and travails have brought me to the town of Hope, last bastion of civilisation in this region. The trail of the Eternal Song had grown cold and so I surrendered to the will of the God to guide me in my next move.  A story of a missing woman, fallen prey to bandits moved my spirit and thus I joined a worth crew of adventurers tasked with returning her safely. My companions are as follows: Item the first.   Dex a clever rogue well versed in stealth and tricks. Item the second. Snax a kobold who masqueraded as a dragon.  A fine fellow, I’m sure in time he will find the Dragon within. Item the third. Narc.  A mighty lizard folk skilled in the hunt and scouting.  Persana has blessed him much upside for his ability in navigation. Item the fourth. Brynan a goodly celestial skilled in the arcane but tragically weak of bladder. On a cold morn, my companions shivering though I found it quite pleasant, we headed North or so good Narc informed us.  After a day’s travel, however, it transpired we’d veered West and on the edges of a dread mausoleum filled with undeath.  Those more knowledgeable of the region informed me of death and madness lying within and so, after a foolhardy exploration of a dwarven statue, we retreated a way before resting for the night.    During my watch I shared much conversation with Snax and learned of his misadventures.  Yet a sense a good heart within him and heartily believe he can become more than he believes.  Certainly he proved a true companion in the peril which was to come. The next day, while traversing through swamps we were attacked by a collection of fungus creatures.  The battle was grim and I called on the blessings of Persana on several occasion in order to wrest my companions back from the shores of death.  Ultimately we prevailed and continued bravely on. We made camp some ours later and here tragedy struck.  Some time in the night, poor Brynan was seized by the call of nature.  Muttering something about “sprinkling the onions” he made his way to some bushes and hosed down a veritable vipers’ nest.   The reptiles took umbrage at the foul spray and quickly slew Brynan before the rest of us could act. All we could do was watch in horror has Brynan expired.  Once the snakes had returned to their nest we retrieved our deceased companions and tucked him back in to at least give him some dignity in death. The next morning as we dug a grave we were joined by a new travel companion, a flamboyant chap called Azhad.  He offered to sing a eulogy to Brynan but sadly the song was more one of praise of Azhad himself.  Nevertheless, we eagerly accepted him into our ranks as safety in numbers was paramount. Here we reached the climax of our adventure when Narc found tracks left by the bandits and we followed them to their lair. Here things took a perilous turn as we mounted a frontal assault rather than a more measured approach.  Snax fell into a pit and Dex was sorely wounded by strange bird men armed with bows.  Narc and I fought a swarm of ravens along with some other bird men. Somehow we pressed forward though the attacks of our foes grew heavier.  Snax raised a fog to give us some cover and soon after I was forced to do the same as both Narc and Azhad were felled by arrows.  In the cover of the fog I ministered to my companions, calling them back from the shores of death through the might of Persana.  Countless arrows rained around me and finally the attacks of the enemy prevailed and I was felled. Some time later I was restored, proving again how good and capable my companions are.  It transpired that at the moment of greatest peril, when all seemed lost, Dex freed a mighty bear from captivity and while it first struck down  Snax, it then scared off most of the bird men and slew their leader before wandering off into the forest.   The forces of good had prevailed! We returned to Hope, bearing with us the merchant’s daughter.  I look forward to question again with my new friends and perhaps finding some hint of where the Eternal Song my lie. As Persana wills it, so it shall be!
