As the party attempted to leave Mistshore, they were rudely interrupted by Raisha the minotaur, coming for some vengeance on Sigurd, and she brought along a squad of kenku bandits with her to keep the rest occoupied. Fortunately, Enigma, who had been following the trail of the kenku while on the look out for his mark, was not too far away and managed to intervene to give the party a hand in dealing with the threat. Yuan managed to get the draw on Raisha and flew into his rage, and began radiating a strange prismatic energy that helped deflect away attacks. However, even that couldn't totally protect him from the bevy of arrows and attacks from the enemy as he charged in recklessly! Sigurd decided now was a good time, seeing as they were in Mistshore where the City Watch was absent, to pull out a toy he'd been wanting to try - the poisonous pistol he robbed from the Bregan D'aerthe agent. However, his aim was a bit off, and his shots didn't hit home until later in the fight, but the danger the weapon presented was evident. Ray tried to sneak around the side to gauge the enemy and Enigma managed to drop a field of Darkness to keep the Kenku from shooting down Yuan, although that seemed to make them only want to shoot him instead, while Marcellus hanged back lobbing firebolts at Raisha and the Kenku to try and draw their fire away from Yuan. Yuan was taking a beating, but his rage and general toughness - not to mention Sigurd's steel defender deflecting attacks - allowed him to persevere. Eventually, Raisha had enough, swore that she'd come back for Sigurd later, and took off down the alley, using Enigma's own darkness to give the party the slip. When the kenku realized they were being overwhelmed, they too began to flee, but not before the company managed to take most of them out, knocking out a few for interrogation later. With the danger past, Enigma stated he needed one of the kenku alive for information on his target, Harko Swornhold. The Lords' Alliance had asked him to put him to the sword, for Harko was exiled from Waterdeep and here illegally, raising forces for the Xanathar's Guild. Marcellus decided to make himself useful and put the kenku on the spot, using his own special brand of interrogation - either the kenku gives up Harko's location or he ends up like his friends. Marcellus said that if the kenku's word was good, he'd put in that the kenku was a bird of their word and maybe the authorities wouldn't give them so much of a hard time. The kenku rolled over on Harko easily, revealing that the criminal was currently at a nearby dock recruiting kenku. Enigma knew, however, that if they didn't go for him now, Harko would give them the slip. If they were going to nab him, they had to do it today, or he'd have to start his investigation all over again. After turning in the kenku to the Watch to be arrested, and taking some time to catch a breather to prepare for yet another fight today, the team headed east to the nearby docks where Harko was said to be lurking, and thanks to Enigma's incredible stealth abilities, he was able to discern that the captive kenku's information was good. The team proceeded to set up an ambush, and actually managed it quite well, managing to surround Harko and sabotage any potential escape routes thanks to Ray poking holes in the nearby boat. Ray however shined with a well placed Sleep spell, taking out all of Harko's kenku henchman simultaneously in one fell swoop while the rest of the team descended on him like a pack of rabid wolves, which was quite literal in Yuan's case as he engaged in his rage for the third and final time and teleported next to Harko to give him a nasty surprise, while the rest of the team fired on him from range. Realizing he was outgunned, Harko swore they'd never take him alive and tried to flee, but he couldn't escape the long arm of the law, as Marcellus managed to hit the finishing blow with a well placed firebolt, and Enigma finished him off to ensure he would stay down for good. Harko Swornhold has been brought to justice. With that finally done, the team apprehended the rest of the Kenku and sent them to the Watch, and Marcellus said he'd report to Mirt on Ray's behalf about a job well done. Perhaps there might be a possibility the three factions could come to some sort of agreement... With that done, they had the rest of the tenday ahead of them to do as they pleased, but as it would turn out, it wouldn't be a cakewalk, as a known roughhouser named Yorn the Terror would pay the building a visit with his cronies and cause a bar brawl, and the place would be targeted by petty criminals looking for an easy score. It would be up to the team to figure out how to handle these threats and hope they could turn a profit by the end of the tenday! What lies in store for the team? How will the tavern fare over the month of Flamerule? Find out next time... on Waterdeep: Dragon Heist!!
