A knight by the name of  Sir Urso  has recently come to Hope representing  Baron Scrofo Sosii , whose minor kingdom on the coast that hugs the eastern edge of the Harrowmere has recently been experiencing a worrying string of disappearances. The Baron believes these disappearances are due to  Green Annie , a wicked hag that dwells in the Black Fen, a swamp of smaller size than the Harrowmere, but no less danger.  He has invited brave adventurers to travel down the coast via long boats he has at anchor in Hope's harbor, visit with him at his manor, and then commence their investigations in the nearby settlements of Longshores and Sandy Bottom, where the majority of disappearances have occured. He is offering the sum of 1,000 gold pieces to the party that can get to the bottom of the disappearances, with an additional bounty of 100 gold pieces for each missing person located - dead or alive. King Icarus is organizing a tour to visit the minor kingdoms under his protection beginning with this one. Mounts don't look to be required as we're going in boats. It's a water-themed expedition so anyone that has swim speed/water breathing or anything to help in the water is recommended, but feel free to come drown as anybody you like. I'll almost certainly sign up for this one but I don't have a character who isn't signed up somewhere already, so I'll hold off to allow others to join if they want. If I do join, I'll either bring my test levelup5e rogue "Dex" or some other rookie... But if you're looking to count people for the session going ahead, I'm in!

Clarence's Travel Log Aargh! This must be why the others refuse to leave our home. The outside world sucks! Upon arriving in Hope, I met up with a group of adventurers, not unlike some of the lot I used to guide through the swamp, that were about to head off to the South to look for missing subjects of a concerned Baron. Seeing as how I know my way around swamps and the like, I figured I would offer my services. How hard could it be? The leader of our adventuring party was a triton named Icarus. Don’t ask me what a triton is but it seemed like some sort of human with aquatic features; I would have asked but upon seeing the crown atop his head I didn’t want to come off as ignorant. Next up were two turtlefolk, i think Tortle is what they go by in these parts. Anyways there was Ala the massive barbarian with a massive shell that provided ample protection and Time whose shell itself was smaller, but you wouldn’t be able to tell for all the sacks and bags strapped all over. Then we have Krux the lizardfolk barbarian, a sailor by practice, and while a lot of the party had some form of aquatic capabilities, someone who can operate a seaworthy vessel would not be taken for granted. Next were two genasi, beings with some sort of connection to the elements, now this is why I wanted to get out of the swamp. Nothing like these two ever traveled into the swamp, how would I ever know about their existence! Darya seemed to be attuned to the element of water while Misty mingled with the air. Despite my initial shock at the existence of such beings, I did catch a mention of a “Captain Planet.” I do not know who that is but maybe he will be captaining our boats. Just as we were about to sail off one final adventurer joined the party, Wilmot Groot, a halfling. Apparently the job he was scheduled for this week was postponed so he decided to look for new a new gig in the meantime. The party of eight, now assembled, boarded our boats and began the journey South. Upon arriving at the manor of our employer, we were greeted by a feast and two tasks. The first task was familiar as it was what we expected to do upon arrival, find the missing humans. The second task though was new. Apparently a Prince was coming to the area to investigate rumors of drug smuggling. The Baron was not confident that his people were entirely not guilty of such accusations, and as such asked us to also report any findings of smuggling activity to him as well. We agreed to these two tasks and decided to call it a night. It was a rather uneventful day of travel, well until we found the body that is. It was bloated and just left on the beach to rot. Tim found a coinpurse on the body that identified him as someone not from around here. Before we could take out leave though, we were ambushed by a pack of crabs wearing the bones of the dead. You certainly won’t find those in my swamp! However before I could act, I was surprised by one such creature and fell unconscious. When I awoke, Tim was standing over me and all but two of the crabs lay slain at our feet. Standing up I noticed Krux was also down, so I made my way over and using to druidic powers granted to be by Sambi blank restored him to consciousness. Dragging the corpse on a bit of driftwood we continued to make our way towards Long Shore.  Upon arriving, we were greeted by the one who led our ships South from Hope, not Captain Planet but instead a man of the name Sir Uso. He informed us of those missing from his area and suggested that even though some locals think the sea witch is to blame, we should probably look towards the Black Fen as most of the disappearances stem from that area. That sounded logical enough, so after a night’s rest we began to make out way further South to Mud Hallow.  After calming an escaped circus elephant enough so that we may pass unheeded, we came across the site of some sort of attack on a cart. The cart was torn in half and all evidence pointed to some sort of burrowing creature that may still be in the area. With caution we began to cross the field when all of a sudden a huge insectoid burrowed out of the ground and spewed acid at Ala, Krux, Icarus, and myself. Unfortunately this was an acid that I was unfamiliar with and once again found myself unconscious. If it wasn’t for the mysterious sickness gripping my swamp I would be beginning to doubt my choice to leave. Some time later I am brought back into consciousness by Tim and pay forward the same favor to Ala. Unfortunately Krux was also unconscious, but being spent like I was I there was nothing we could do but carry him along to our destination.  Upon arriving in Mud Hollow we were greeted by a rather rude head woman. She claimed that despite what we were told, nobody from Mud Hollow has gone missing. In fact, her town was doing alright and told us to simply leave her people alone. She directed us further South to Sandy Bottom, where she claims all the so called missing from her town were really from. After a night of rest and relaxation we awoke to find a fresh and rejuvenated Krux. Seems like a good night's rest was all he needed to get back on his feet.  Besides a traveling group of peasants, the road to Sandy Bottom was a nice change of pace from the two previous road trips. Upon arriving the head man confirmed what we heard in Mud Hollow, most of the disappearances were indeed from here, and in fact while all the other towns seem to be doing worse for the wear, Mud Hollow is doing surprisingly great. Talking to the head man, provided us with several leads to follow up on going forward. First the Black Fen would have plenty of places for people to get lost in or for smugglers could hide; it is definitely worth a look. Maybe Mud Hollow and their head man might be hiding something. Secondly there are the trolls in the hills. While the head man has had simple communication with them in the past, we cannot rule out the possibility of them abducting a missing person. Finally there are a lot of local legends about two places in particular: the rock, a supposedly haunted lighthouse, and the Sea Witch’s cave. Both places were brought up by name and may be worth giving a quick look about. In the morning we will decide our path forward. I personally hope we investigate the swamp. Not that I’m homesick, it is just that it will be nice to be in familiar environs.
Love it! Welcome to the level 2 club!
Mistys Diary - Trouble on the Rocky coast  The day I arrived in Hope I heard that a bunch of people were heading to the beach. YAY beach party. There was also mention of a Baron and missing people. I guess we will keep an eye out from them and have some fun at the same time, right? So there are a few tortles, a crocodile man, a Triton who says he is a king. And OMG there is another genasi here! A water one called Darya. She also wears these fancy robes she says are from Strixhaven, is that a band or something? We took a boat to the Baron's house. It was a dull trip at first. Near the end of the journey we saw some people fishing. The Baron's men said they were poachers and we could go after them for punishment. Darya and I agreed it wasn't worth it. I mean, like how do you poach fish? It's not like you can own every single fish in the Ocean. Maybe Icarus could since he is a king and all, but still, you know? Anyways, the Baron was actually really nice and has a wife that can COOK! Throughout the meal the Baron kept droning on about missing people, saying that we will be rewarded even if they were dead (ew). He also said there were smugglers in the area dealing a drug called...er I think he said it was called Fist. Darya looked super interested in it (she's more hard-core than she looks). After a nights rest our first place to look for clues is a town called Longshore.  Travelling there we came across a dead guy in a Cove. He could be one of the missing people. Wait, no Wilmott said he has a coin purse,  this guy is too rich to be one of the locals who went missing. Damn! Before we could leave we were attacked by bone crabs! They were so scary and knocked out Krux, Ala and Darya. At least I got to show off my archery skills by killing a few of those pincy monsters. We eventually got to Longshore, OMG this place is depressing. At least the leader of the town Urso was accommodating. He said a few people have gone missing from longshore but the most have disappeared from Mudhollow and Sandy bottom. We decided to go to Mudholliw first as it was the closest. The trek there was interesting to say the least. First there was this random elephant, weird right? The we got ambushed by an Ankeg then we met some random villagers, not the exciting but whatever. Poor Clarence was still knocked out from fighting the Ankeg when we got to Mudhollow. The mean Orc lady Halfa who runs the village said no one was missing from her village and we should go to Sandybottom where all the trouble is. At least she let us stay the night so Clarence could get healed up. OK out of all the places here Sandy bottom has potential to be the cutest little seaside town, if it weren't you know, a ghost town. The dame who runs the place believes that Halfa from Mudhollow has something to do with the missing people and that her village is richer than it seems, DRAMA!!! She also told us we could check out the lighthouse, the hills as well as the Black Fens for clues. Then she mentioned more names.  Oh gods, my head hurts. So many names I can't keep track of all of them! I'll let Darya do that she looks like a nerd who enjoys that kind of thing. All I wanted to do was go to the beach and make some friends not save the world and pay attention to a million different things.
Trouble on the Rock Coast Part One: A Nasty Case of the Crabs As told by Wilmott Groot   Crikey! I reckon the last time we spoke I’d just got back from the Barrowmaze again.  That’s a pretty miserable place when all’s said and done so when I heard there was a chance to do some adventuring and exploring down the coast, well I jumped at the chance. …And jump I had to because I only heard about it at the last minute, the longboats were practically pulling out of the harbour by the time I got there with all my kit.  I’m not the strongest feller so I was sad to leave me Axebeak behind but I didn’t think there was any chance of convincing Irwin to take a boat trip. Unlike other groups this party had a leader, a triton feller called King Icarus.  The word was he’s a wizard but you could’ve fooled me, all he ever seemed to do was charge into the fray and skewer things with his trident.  Anyway, he must be a true leader because he seemed to do jack all most of the time.  “Delegation is the art of leadership” me old gran used to say and let me tell you, King Icarus was delegating the shit out of everything, especially trying to investigate the mystery we were supposed to solve.  More on that later. The rest of the crew were all of an aquatic bent, one way or another, excepting me, a simple wanderer of hill and dale.   We had two geezers who were Tortles a sort of turtle people I’d never heard of before.  Ala was a warrior type and looked plenty tough while Tim was more your woodsy thinking type, I couldn’t quite get a handle on what his deal was but I learnt a thing or two watching him practice his woodscraft, that’s for sure.  Next up we had two Genasi; Misty was an Air Genasi, a real fast moving warrior while Darya was a Water Genasi and wizard.  She was real smart but kept going on about a bunch of crazy people burning down a house, she seemed real upset by it. Finally we had Clarence a Crockian nature worshipper and Krux a tough lizardfolk barbarian.  Clarence was another woodsy bloke and I felt in real good company with him.  Krux was tough and brave, perhaps too much so but more on that later. Geez, I’ve spent so long on introductions I won’t even get around to talking about what we did at this rate! To cut a long story short we were hired by his knobness Baron Scrofo Sosii to investigate the disappearance of a bunch of people from the coastal villages on his lands.  The longboats I mentioned before were commanded by one of his knights, Sir Urso, and got us to the Sosi Estate, the seat of the Baron’s power.  “Shithole Estate” would’ve been a better monicker. I’ve never seen such downtrodden people though the Baron certainly put on a good spread and talked endlessly about the various delicacies he was plying us with. Alongside the commentary on the cuisine he got around to mentioning the missing villagers and geez it was a long list.  I had to wonder if he was as careful with his people as he was with his dining perhaps he wouldn’t have needed us at all! We rested up that night and decided to head down the coast to visit the various villages to get a feel for what the cause of the disappearances might be.  Over the next few days we visited Longshores (Sir Urso’s joint), Mud Hollow a really poor fishing village and Sandy Bottom.  Along the way we had a couple of rough fights, the first with a bunch of crabs that had already done in what looked like a smuggler and a day later we had a real nasty fight with an Ankheg that put a few of us down before we finished off the bastard.  King Icarus was in the think of it both times and our poor warrior Krux damn near lost his life on both occasions.  I was lucky enough to score the hide from the Ankheg.  When I scrape together enough gold I reckon I can get some real good armour made out of it. At first I was along on this gig for the chance to see the open air but hearing about all those missing people started getting me interested in the mystery.  After talking to the various village leaders I’m starting to think the grizzled old lady running Mudhollow might know more than she’s letting on.  People have gone missing from every village but hers and while she convinced me of her innocence when I talked to her, thinking back on it she may well have pulled the wool over yours truly’s eyes. I’ll leave off here with us resting up in Sandy Bottom ( I didn't even talk about the elephant we saw but that's for another day).  We have a few leads to follow up in the Briar Hills which is supposedly troll country and also in the Black Fens which supposedly houses a hag.  A lot of the crew apart from King Icarus and me aren’t that experienced so we might have to pace ourselves a little or we could well suffer a major calamity.  In any case we’re all keen to keep investigating and see if we can save some of those poor villagers. I’ll see ya later!
Anyone wanting to plan a session 2 for this?
