Imposters At Astoria is a horror/suspense campaign in the vein of "Invasion Of the Body Snatchers", "They Live", and "The Thing". The players will be at a hospital for treatment of an illness called Capgras Syndrome. Sufferers of Capgras Syndrome believe that a person in their life, most often a very close relative, has been replaced by an "imposter". These young people are part of a study set up by scientists who wish to examine aberrant behavior in a developing mind, set to last (approximately) 25 weeks. This will give the players (approximately) 25 sessions to witness The Event, and to deal with its repercussions. The world of this RPG is wicked and unwelcoming to its players. Allegiances are fraught with mistrust as the monster who was spawned during The Event infiltrates Astoria, and begins to take hold of the authorities of this once sleepy little town. Though the monster looks like anyone else, allies must be found, and methods must be devised to seek it out, and to destroy it before this thing's monstrous plan takes shape in our world. https://app.roll20.net/lfg/listing/314311/imposters-at-astoria Horror/Suspense campaign, 6 players total, 2 seats available 18+ Adult language, themes, violence, discussion of mental health, etc. (sex and sexuality is probably ok, harrasing language/behavior or in game sexual role play is NOT) Inclusive atmosphere, LGBTQ friendly (obviously), faith friendly, etc. Tips and payment are welcome, but not required at my table. I expect this campaign to last for 25+ sessions, with a promise of at least 25 sessions. The “+” will be left to how the details of the campaign unfold, and how involved we all are in it. All decisions made by me, the DM, are up for short discussion at the table, and lengthy discussion away from the table, but ultimately, I hold the final say. This campaign has a modern (even sci-fi) setting, but I am going to use 5e mechanics, and will simply re-skin items and weapons where necessary. This decision, like any other, is up for discussion amongst the table. I have 8+ years of experience as a DM, some 10-15 home brewed campaigns completed, a few effects and token purchases on roll 20, and a subscription to Inkarnate for personalized maps. More to the point, I am always looking to improve as a DM, and so I take criticism well, which allows for a game to be both an optimized, and a personal experience. This game is inspired by books like “Who Goes There?”, and “Invasion Of the Body Snatchers”. More precisely, it is inspired by movies like “Invasion Of the Body Snatchers”, “The Thing”, and “They Live”. I’ve played it once before with one single player, and we both found it to be expansive and worth revisiting, and so I have high expectations for this campaign. I’m looking forward to meeting a few people who are good role players, and good story tellers to help me to make it happen. Thank you for your interest!
