[DnD 5e] [Wed Night] [Free] [Forgotten Realms] [Custom Written Story] Woodard's Crossing, a Forgotten Realms campaign

Games: Wed at 6pm Pacific Looking for 3 players for a 5 player group. Characters must be: Relatable, down to earth, interesting personality instead of a gimmick, easy to fit into the plot and story, lore abiding for Forgotten Realms.   Players must be: Able to get along with everyone, give everyone the spotlight, do not discuss RL politics, be willing to adjust to the party and story, make sure everyone has fun, not just you. Tone : Sessions are a mix of intense and hectic action, down time for free form RP, investigating mysteries, and adventure. While the game is set in and around a town, it is not a "town RP". The heroes must work together, find allies, and protect the town from sinister plots. Rules : Rules lawyers not welcome. The DM uses only a few house rules, but enemies are custom made using 5e mechanics. The story and combat will be challenging, made for players who want to think, use tactics, and put pieces together. **Interested people should reply to this post with answers to the following: What type of character would you like to play? (personality, not class) What are you looking for in a game?** Pitch Along the northern border of Tethyr lies the town of Woodard’s Crossing, a tourist stop on the way to Amn. Alton Woodard was an arcanist of great repute and talent who had constructed a tower near the foothills. When he used a gate to transport himself into the Outer Planes, the tower exploded with magical energy. A museum and soon a trade town popped up over the ruined site. Heroes will take on the role of a citizen of Woodard’s Crossing, one who has taken a brief respite from adventure for personal reasons. They will be tested by forces that wish to destroy the town as the legacy of Alton Woodard catches up with the present day. The journey doesn’t stop in the town, however, as the heroes will travel to mysterious and deadly places around the Forgotten Realms and beyond. Themes: Dark, Mature, Action and Adventure, Exploration, Politics Inclusive: I welcome a diverse group of adventurers. We're all looking for fun and there's only room for kindness. The Campaign: Begins with a Session 0 for character creation and world building. The story is split into two volumes, one for levels 1-15, the second for 16-20. Each volume has four acts which will run over the course of about ten weeks per act. Attendance: The game will take place once a week. Players are expected to attend each session or give a decent notice if they cannot make it as others are involved and their time should be respected as well. If attendance issues disrupt the game, the player will be notified and is welcome to step out for another player. Rules: DnD 5e with some custom rules for various mini-games or scenarios. No homebrewed races or classes from players are allowed. Characters will start new at level 1. We’ll play within the spirit of the rules, not the letter of the rules. If something doesn’t work, we’ll find something that does. The DM may tweak rules in favor of a good story and experience.  Difficulty: Veteran players are wanted. The combat difficulty will be average but unique/custom enemies. Combat will matter. The story difficulty is high, there are many plot points and players won't always have perfect information. The NPCs and factions will remember deeds via a reputation system that exists behind the scenes. Character Creation: Level 5. Any Forgotten Realms race is welcome. Stats are point-buy. Experience is awarded by milestones. No lore-breaking races. The new player will receive 1 magic item. The DM I'm a huge RPG nerd. With over 24 years of GMing and playing experience, I'm happiest when storytelling. Over the years I've made my own modifications, custom settings and rules, and custom campaigns set in established settings. My most successful game was a 4e DnD Forgotten Realms campaign that I GM'd for 2 1/2 years. My goal is to be involved in a great story and put together a group of great people. Hosting is a passion of mine and I'm very patient and willing to help everyone enjoy themselves.

I'd be interested in joining. I have about 7-8 years of experience playing D&D, about half as DM. I usually play sarcastic, gaslighting trouble makers. I'm pretty comfortable in any class/role. I've never played a hard but also well-balanced campaign, and would be excited for the challenge. My only question for you is what is Wednesday "Night", I work a M-F 9-5, so im available around 5:30pm to as late as 10-11pm. (EST) Edit: 6pm Pacific works, I would need to wrap up by 10pm PST. Hello, my name is Richard, 31, and I have been playing DnD for a few years now, not sure in the global scope how 'experienced' I am but I would greatly enjoy to be a part of a campaign as a player. Currently I am DMing a (Failed) Tomb of Annihilation campaign Sundays with friends and would love the experience to be a player. Currently the players got teleported elsewhere and ToA is about to ' fail'  but we are basically just following the group of characters as that happens now, we are all still enjoying the storyline so we are probably just sandboxing that game now. I have played in a few different campaigns as a player over the years (maybe 4) and I always quite enjoyed being a player. For character ideas, I really don't have one in mind, but I would be glad to fill whatever the group needs. Once again, I would love to play and you can contact me via discord   id:  illann#2065
I'm veteran player and DM, have been playing since AD&D. What type of character would you like to play? A character struggling to understand, cope with, and turn to good purpose a dark power growing within them. What are you looking for in a game? Immersion in a world of fantasy where "real world" mechanics do not intrude. Looking for a supportive and fun group dynamic. Not fond of selfish players/PCs.

What type of character would you like to play? I'm looking to play a street performer on the run from a troubled past who uses disguises/personalities from his favourite roles to conceal his true identity while trying to clear his name or make amends with who/what pursues him. He is alone on the run, but knows the value of friends and family so is eager to make acquaintances with those whom he can trust with his secret. He knows he will not survive on his own and believes getting immersed in a greater purpose will lead him away from harm until he can figure things out. What are you looking for in a game? I'm looking for a creative DM to lead a group of like minded, helpful and creative players through an engaging fantasy adventure. I'm looking for a group that's more interested in telling an exciting story rather than winning at all cost. Notes - I have similar experience to your own. Some things that caught my eye about your game 1. Sessions are a mix of intense and hectic action, down time for free form RP, investigating mysteries, and adventure - Love it, all of it 2. Veteran players are wanted. The combat difficulty will be average but unique/custom enemies. Combat will matter. The story difficulty is high - I love a challenge 3. M ake sure everyone has fun, not just you - Not many players get this one
Looking for 1 player for a session 0 tonight!
Hello there. I'm certainly interested in your game and not just because session 0 is tonight either. I'm interested on account of the very premise that you had typed up for this as it caught my eye certainly and really gels with what I'm looking for. I have played DnD 5e for a little over 3 years and DMed for a year during that time. If there's one thing I've come to enjoy, it's a good story and this seems to be it. In regards to the questions you asked these are the answers for those.  What type of character would you like to play?  -Personally, I'd love to play as a character who is simply someone who grew up hearing stories of heroics and adventures and simply wanted to be like their heroes and live their own adventure. The thing is adventures tend to not be like they're depicted in stories so they would likely experience some doubt about things and what they wanted out of life. What are you looking for in a game? -This one is kept simple and partially answered by my opening paragraph. I want a story. I love being able to roleplay and to have combat and to mix the two together so that not just myself but everyone can have a good time and have a good story be told. That's what I want.  I hope that this answers your questions well enough and gives an idea of who I am as a person. Thank you for reading and have a good day.
