The investigators began their tour with the Duke, climbing the 160 steps to the Lausanne cathedral. He explained a bit of its history, as well as showed them a statue of Otto of Grandson, an English knight who died just before 1400. The statue's hands were missing. He also explained that there were separate tours of the crypts, but it was a little dark for the tour he wanted to take them on. Next was the Musee Cantonal, a museum with Roman artifacts from ancient encampments and settlements around the Lausanne area. It was connected to a vast library as well, in which the investigators found a book they thought they might like- Unaussprechlicen Kulten (Nameless Cults). The Duke had a librarian hold it for them, before they went off to their next destination. Le Signal, an overlook above Lausanne, was magnificent. It was a view of all of Lake Geneva, and the Duke showed them the Alps, through which there was Italy, their next stop. Isaac asked if he desired to go there, and he said that he just wanted to enjoy life to the fullest. After that, he took them down the hill a bit, showing them the cafe they were to regroup at for the 7:30 Club. Checking his golden watch, he excused himself, as he had a business meeting to attend to shortly. He covered their lunch before heading off. The group discussed their next courses of action. Over lunch, they decided on going to the library with a German-English dictionary, to see if they could make any sense of the book they had found. Dennis explained he wanted to call his Aunt, to check up on her and make sure she knew how he was as well. Their goals in mind, they all set off. Back at the Library, searching through the old, moldy book they had found, they realized it would take a few months to even skim the whole thing, and that was only if they could understand it. They thought about their options. One, they could pay someone to translate it at the library, which would take a few months and cost a fair amount of money. Two, they could pay someone to transcribe it, which they found would take half as much time and a third as much money. Finally, they could find a way to send it to Professor Smith, and ask him to translate it himself or grab a colleague to do it. John, taking a gamble, approached a clerk. It took some persuasion, but after convincing by him and his credentials with the Bibliotheque Nationale, the British Museum and Library, and his own 'celebrity,' the clerks were convinced to allow him to loan the book out to London. They gave him a myriad of tools (page turner, book holders, secure bags), and entrusted it to his person, after getting all of his information down. Hazan and Isaac were researching their own subjects in the meantime. Hazan found mention of 'shared dreams' and 'cities in dreams' that seemed to be the same few cities every time, and suggestion of more. Isaac found out about a Latin manuscript in Venice, called the Devil's Simulare, that could hold more information about the Simulacrum. Finally, Dennis came around after the talk with his Aunt Betty, who he hadn't spoken to in a month. The international line was costly. They finished up at 5 P.M., each of them explaining what they had found in their searches. Their next idea was to take a nap, to see if they would have another shared dream together. John elected to stay up, spending his time getting the book sent to Smith and learning the spell from the Professor's Diary. Once they all went to sleep (except John), they found themselves in a familiar place... The three of them awoke, in their compartments on the Dreamlands Express, to the knocking of Henri on their doors, calling out that the banquet was going to begin soon. Each of them checked their trunks and wardrobes for clothing, putting on formal attire they found. A small black kitten appeared in Hazan's compartment, making a mess of the place before scampering away. Dennis arrived at the banquet and sat down first, near Monsieur Karakov. They spoke a bit about the place, Karakov explaining he was an arms dealer, and that he liked the Express, though he knew little about it. Dennis attempted to drink some 'zoog moon-tree wine,' but couldn't hold it down efficiently. He passed out, falling to the floor completely asleep. Isaac went over to pick him up and drag him back to his compartment, putting him on a luxurious bed that had been fixed up there. Hazan spoke with Henri about it, and found that the wine was particularly strong and that she shouldn't try it if she was anxious about it. She ordered a bit of food and wine for herself, and he said he would get that out for her. Turning, he made a small cry, before standing in front of the curtain to the kitchen, stopping the black kitten from before from getting into the kitchen. He spoke to him for a bit, in a language Hazan had never heard before, seeming to scold him before he scampered off. Hazan asked if he could speak to cats, and he explained that he had told Blackjack to stay with his mother. She also asked if he could teach her, and he smiled and ensured her that he could, before going off. Hazan then sat down between Mac and Madame Bruja, making small talk with them as they all ate. Mac explained he was on his way to Sona-Nyl, and would disembark there, explaining it was a wonderful place with roads paved of gold. Bruja explained a little about the Gulf of Nodens, saying that she also had something to throw in there and get rid of entirely and permanently. Hazan mused they should get their friend Dennis to throw his fears in. After Karakov got up, done with eating and bidding them goodnight, Hazan elected to as well. Bruja nodded her farewell, and Mac made a toast, cheerily asking her not to be a stranger. Isaac and Hazan went back to their compartments, getting dressed in the golden-spung silk night garments and going back to sleep. They all awoke back in their hotel room, to the alarms and John. They got in formal attire, before making their way to the Chat Noir for the 7:30 Club. They managed to arrive at 7:10 P.M.
