[DndD 5e] [Free] [Tues Night] [Story Driven] [Custom Story] Woodard's Crossing, a Forgotten Realms Story

Games: Wed at 6pm Pacific Looking for 5 players for a 5 player group. Characters must be: Relatable, down to earth, interesting personality instead of a gimmick, easy to fit into the plot and story, lore abiding for Forgotten Realms.   Players must be: Able to get along with everyone, give everyone the spotlight, do not discuss RL politics, be willing to adjust to the party and story, make sure everyone has fun, not just you. Tone : Sessions are a mix of intense and hectic action, down time for free form RP, investigating mysteries, and adventure. While the game is set in and around a town, it is not a "town RP". The heroes must work together, find allies, and protect the town from sinister plots. Rules : Rules lawyers not welcome. The DM uses only a few house rules, but enemies are custom made using 5e mechanics. The story and combat will be challenging, made for players who want to think, use tactics, and put pieces together. **Interested people should reply to this post with answers to the following: What type of character would you like to play? (personality, not class) What are you looking for in a game?** Pitch Along the northern border of Tethyr lies the town of Woodard’s Crossing, a tourist stop on the way to Amn. Alton Woodard was an arcanist of great repute and talent who had constructed a tower near the foothills. When he used a gate to transport himself into the Outer Planes, the tower exploded with magical energy. A museum and soon a trade town popped up over the ruined site. Heroes will take on the role of a citizen of Woodard’s Crossing, one who has taken a brief respite from adventure for personal reasons. They will be tested by forces that wish to destroy the town as the legacy of Alton Woodard catches up with the present day. The journey doesn’t stop in the town, however, as the heroes will travel to mysterious and deadly places around the Forgotten Realms and beyond. Themes: Dark, Mature, Action and Adventure, Exploration, Politics Inclusive: I welcome a diverse group of adventurers. We're all looking for fun and there's only room for kindness. The Campaign: Begins with a Session 0 for character creation and world building. The story is split into two volumes, one for levels 1-15, the second for 16-20. Each volume has four acts which will run over the course of about ten weeks per act. Attendance: The game will take place once a week. Players are expected to attend each session or give a decent notice if they cannot make it as others are involved and their time should be respected as well. If attendance issues disrupt the game, the player will be notified and is welcome to step out for another player. Rules: DnD 5e with some custom rules for various mini-games or scenarios. No homebrewed races or classes from players are allowed. Characters will start new at level 1. We’ll play within the spirit of the rules, not the letter of the rules. If something doesn’t work, we’ll find something that does. The DM may tweak rules in favor of a good story and experience.  Difficulty: Veteran players are wanted. The combat difficulty will be average but unique/custom enemies. Combat will matter. The story difficulty is high, there are many plot points and players won't always have perfect information. The NPCs and factions will remember deeds via a reputation system that exists behind the scenes. Character Creation: Level 3. Any Forgotten Realms race is welcome. Stats are point-buy. Experience is awarded by milestones. No lore-breaking races. The DM I'm a huge RPG nerd. With over 24 years of GMing and playing experience, I'm happiest when storytelling. Over the years I've made my own modifications, custom settings and rules, and custom campaigns set in established settings. My most successful game was a 4e DnD Forgotten Realms campaign that I GM'd for 2 1/2 years. My goal is to be involved in a great story and put together a group of great people. Hosting is a passion of mine and I'm very patient and willing to help everyone enjoy themselves.
I'd like to play Aubin Rensib, a human from an icy village. His family's profession is ice fishing and it's all he's known for the majority of his life until he started his adventuring career. He's close to his family and is a kind and genuine person who cares that those close to him with their physical and mental health. He's also a big animal lover. He has a pet owl named Ceep (pronounced Seep) that he has trained to do a handful of tricks. Aubin would rather talk his way out of a situation than fight, but when backed into a corner he'll defend himself. I enjoy games with players who enjoy roleplaying their characters over talking about non-game topics during play. When playing a game I prefer a 50/50 of roleplay and combat but it's totally cool if a session is completely one or the other. It depends on the narrative of the story for what is going on. But I enjoy my combat to have as much effort into it as the roleplay; by that I mean I like it to actually feels like a life and death situation each time, for combat to be gritty and meaningful. If I sound like the kind of player you're looking for my discord info is Tormented#6096 . Take care!

Hello and well met,   I would like to play the son of a stable owner named Tenamore Ableson who has always had dreams of becoming a knight of the church. Unfortunately for Tenamore his mother passed a few years ago and as a result his father spends most of his time looking for answers at the bottom of a whiskey bottle. Without Tenamore's help, the family stables, farm and residence would fall into disrepair and would most likely be claimed for back taxes.   Tenamore is a friendly outgoing young man who is aware of the evil deeds of some but is also a big believer in the power of redemption. Having had the chance to hear great stories from travelers who have stabled their animals with him while passing through Woodard's Crossing. He keeps these stories close to his heart and secretly prays to the mighty Illmater and is even known to sometimes share his faith with others who are facing struggles.  Tenamore's father depises his sons desire to serve the church or any god's for that matter believing that the god's are cruel and interfere in people's live's for their own sick sense of entertainment.  What I normally look for in a game is an enjoyable escape into a fantastical land where I can become my character for good or bad. I like playing in a group that works together and takes more of a heroic approach to the world. I love roleplaying most but also like a great deal of exploration and combat which I believe if played right can also be considered RP.  When it comes to combat I prefer the use of tactical maps and rp'ing the actions and outcomes. I prefer an active group that is heavily engaged in the game and not watching tv or talking about the latest covid variant or political bs. I am an experienced player and dm. My discord is MacOne#8082. Thanks for your consideration.
Hey, saw your ad and was really interested in your game! I've been looking to play a more fun, down to earth game and the set up for this one is really interesting and shows a lot of promise!! I've been playing 5e for a good 5+ years now so I'm pretty familiar with the classes, races, and a few spells here and there! As for elements of the game role playing has been one of my favorite aspects about D&D! Being able to immerse myself in the world/story via interactions whether it be through the party, the NPCs, or just admiring the fantasy landscape has to be one of my favorite things about the game! I'm also a sucker for some challenging combat!  I have a few ideas for characters but nothing concrete atm, I usually like to base what I'm playing around the party first! I hope that won't be an issue! I hope you'll consider me ^^
I had to change the night to Wed. I'm running a session 0 tonight and am looking for 1 player. Please send me a DM!
Hello, I see you need another player for tonight's session and would like to try and join you. Was interested in the premise of the town centered experience where we would find out secrets the more we dig into the meat of the story. Have been playing 5e for 4ish years and have experience DMing myself in an ongoing campaign and even a game under my belt that I played from 1st level to level 20. I have a headset and decent mic for discord if that is necessary and like to do voices for my characters to get into the spirit of the character. You can contact me on roll20 or on discord at OrionNStar#1127 if that is better for you.
Bald Elf Bard, I am curious. Bullet point 3 says a range of levels from 1-15 for volume 1. Bullet point 5 says : Characters will start new at level 1. The last bullet point says Starting level 3. Can you please clarify? Thanks. Also, can you update us on  how session 0 went, and are you full?
Hello, I would love to join if you still have slots open I'm a very RP focused player and love character development, grey area choices, and The occasional shenanigans. I'm a significant fan of dark fantasy themes, lore, and politics. I've been cooking a fun character concept that needs some help from the dm to work but I feel could encourage lore digging and plot hooks and make some very interesting interactions A Victim of messing with time travel, He is a Half orc that came from a rough childhood but found a friend in an aspiring wizard, whos family took him in. The two of them grew up together fascinated with magic and its inner workings, eventually they studied together and formed a sort of duo, working jobs and hunting for more knowledge together, unfortunately an experiment went horribly wrong and The half orc was left stranded in an unfamiliar place in an unfamiliar time.  a lot of plot holes to fill in that I've already begun filling in my head but ill keep it simple so we can logic as many things into the setting and theme Hopefully we can make something awesome together and id love to see how it plays
