Back at the tavern, the team attempted to unravel the secret behind the strange blank note found at the Zhentarim hideout where they defeated the Iron Cobra. Sigurd wasn't able to discern its secret, until Ray posed the random thought of reading it in total darkness. As it turns out, that was the ticket - the message detailed the plot to steal the Iron Cobra from Lantanese gnomes and to deliver it to someone named 'M' - Manshoon, perhaps? It was written by someone named Urstul Floxin. In addition, it mentioned Yuan should be captured for the 'red' contact - almost certainly the Red Wizards of Thay after him - and that they should meet back at the villa after the assignment is complete to harass a certain half-elf and assist the eyes on the alley. It seems there's a lot of espionage going on around town, and it's up to the team to counter it. Yuan opted to take the note straight to Davil. Earlier, Davil had told Yuan that he found some information about the people pursuing him, and the search efforts are being lead by a man named Esloon Bazant, a confirmed Red Wizard of Thay. Unfortunately, he doesn't have a location yet, and he won't be easy to find, though all Red Wizards have shaved heads and tattoos on them. With this note, Davil confirmed that this man, Urstul Floxin, is a wanted criminal in Waterdeep, and much to his annoyance, has eluded Davil and his team so far. Even more annoying is that it seems he might have teamed up with Yalah Gralhund in pursuit of the Stone of Golorr. This puts the team in a difficult position, as there's no real evidence linking the two besides circumstantial information, yet they know who is behind the mess. Davil is going to keep looking into a way to deal with this, but urges the team to refrain from direct action for now - eventually, Yalah will slip up, and that will be the chance to strike. They also tried to deduce the nature of the spy who is watching their tavern. Previously, Enigma recalled seeing a glint of glass under a hooded figure's robe before they darted off into the street. It might be someone who wears glasses, which aren't that many people, but a certain nosey reporter came to mind... With that, the team decided to circle back to the tavern for now, and speak with some of the townsfolk. Yuan was able to get his axe serviced by the Steam and Steel to have it silver-edged, and Ray acquired a new rapier to defend himself with. These tools will inevitably help the team square off against the varied foes they've had to deal with up until now, and prepare for the time ahead. There's also the tavern to consider, and that would be the team's next task. How would they handle running the tavern going forward? Will they be able to maintain the business? Who else might have an interest on the team's activities? Find out next time... on Waterdeep: Dragon Heist!!
