Monday October 15, 2018 The group goes to see the head Curator
of the MET Clusters museum.
He agrees to see them, his enthusiasm
makes is seem like he is a fan. Paladin asks about the Jorum of
Kinsmenship and asks that the Brigade be allowed to take possession
of it for safe keeping. Paladin tells him that some super powered
people are after it and want to use if for nefarious purposes.
Mr. Boyd tells the group that there are
several people interested in the artifact that was donated to the
museum by the Van Helsing family of England. Mr. Boyd tells them that
in addition to the Romanian government an agent for a Romanian Prince
has made private overtures to the museum for the artifact. The
agent’s name is David Alucard. In addition to money he has also
offered several items that date back to the reign of Vlad Tepes that
the museum is very interested in.
Kismet points out that Alucard is a
palindrome of Dracula. Boyd says he has met with Mr. Alucard in the
day and they had lunch at a Italian restaurant so he couldn’t be a
vampire.
Paladin counters that there are many
kinds of vampire and just because he can eat (garlic) and withstand
the sun it does not mean he isn’t a member of the undead.
Regardless he is reluctant to turn over
the Jorum of Kinsmanship to the group who seem more interested in
having it in protective custody than returning it to the museum when
asked to.
Kismet says that if the bowl is stolen
the museum will have no way of getting it back but if the Brooklyn
Brigade has it and refuses to return it the museum has options.
With this reassurance he is willing to
turn the bowl over. It takes a couple hours to get the paperwork
together, time the group gets a guided tour of the museum (at no
cost).
Slightly after noon Boyd hands the bowl
over getting Paladin’s signature on the forms.
After the forms are signed Boyd tells
them a story of the bowl. The Knights Templar were fighting a group
of vampires so powerful they could not die until all of them were
killed at the same time. The Jorum of Kinsmenship was in the treasure
looted from the vampires haven. He also tells them earlier this year
while he was at a awards banquet for a colleague of his told him that
another bowl was unearthed in Prague. He does not know if it is true
or not, just something that group should know if they are getting
involved with vampires.
At the base they secure the Jorum of
Kinsmanship in a closet in the basement they scour the net and other
information sources to see if they could confirm the finding of a
second bowl. They don’t find any confirmation.
That afternoon Kismet digs out the
telepathic booster that Constable put together. She and Inspector
Noir use it to read Lady Paper’s mind. They look for a pleasant
memory and bring it to the surface. They are successful but using the
machine leaves them feeling mentally drained and fatigued. With a
successful test they decide to take it to the hospital and see if
they can awaken Doctor McQuark.
While Kismet, Lady Paper, and Inspector
Noir are testing the brain booster Paladin contacts Lydia Davidson to
see if during the shifting through the rubble of McQuark’s lab they
found a tooth (the tooth that Kismet found in the garbage disposal at
Rack’s). She asks Mick Kramer (VP of McQuark Development) if a
tooth was found. He says no. He gives them permission to go and look
for it in the rubble that was once the lab. While they are looking
for the tooth he asks if they can keep an eye open for a red and gold
guitar pick that he lost in the fire. Paladin says, ‘sure’.
While they had Mick on the phone they
get his permission to try to revive Dr. McQuark. Mick Kramer in
addition to being the VP has McQuark’s durable power of attorney.
Mick gives his permission.
6:15PM Kismet, Inspector, and Volt pack the
booster into a van and go to the hospital. Paladin and Lady Paper
stay at the Bunker (Citadel) to guard the Jorum.
Using the same ‘find a happy memory’
technique that they used on Lady Paper Kismet and Inspector Noir
reach into McQuark’s memories. There they find he was most happy
when the hired Mick Kramer into the company. Mick is more than an
employee McQuark thinks of him as the son he never had. Bringing this
memory to the surface allows Dr. McQuark to wake up.
He is confused for a while then
remembers the night of the fire and his accident. McQuark was
reviewing papers at his home, he had just made a breakthrough on mass
producing the vaccine for the ‘glove cleaner’ virus when the call
about the fire came in. He was rushing to the lab when his brakes
failed and he nearly lost his life.
Back at the Bunker:
Paladin and Lady Paper hear a roar of
rockets outside. They rush out just in time to see the Lovely Angel,
the ship piloted by Kei and Yuri of the 3WA, landing. The girls leap
out of the ship, Yuri with a bottle of wing and flowers while Kei is
carrying a small cardboard box. They eagerly ask where’s Shifter?
Paladin lets them down easy telling
them Shifter has retired and has left no forwarding data. He gives
them the last phone number he had for the shape shifter but it is a
dead end.
Kei and Yuri have some time that they
can spend on Earth for R&R. They are on assignment looking for
the Galactic Marauders who illegally used a Star Portal to get to
Earth. They should have been here days ago but they saw no signs of
them when they entered the system. For now they are supposed to sit
and wait for them to make themselves known.
The Star Galleon (the pirate ship) is
bigger and better armed than the Lovely Angel (Kei and Yuri’s
ship). They also have much more advanced tech at their disposal, such
as a cloaking device for instance. With the Galactic Marauders out
gunning the Angels so markedly the 3WA gave Kei and Yuri two 1 Mega
Ton nuclear missiles to even the playing field.
These two having nukes worries Paladin
who has heard a bit of their destructive reputation.
Xela gave them the landing coordinates
for the Brooklyn Brigade’s base. They have been in touch with Hal
and Dewy so they also have the location of the hidden hangar where
the Brigade has their own ship hidden.
Kei and Yuri say they have a hovercraft
in the Lovely Angel so they can get back after securing their ship
with the Brigade’s.
They leave and Paladin gets a message
from Kismet letting him know that McQuark is awake. Paladin calls
Mick Kramer to let him know. The Brigade also learn that Mick and
Lydia are married.
Back at the hospital:
Kismet leaves the booster at the
hospital so they can try to use to wake other coma patients assuming
that they can find a telepath on staff to make it work.
McQuark gets discharged from the
hospital. The Brigade reunites and pick him up. They take him home. A
large hole in the floor leads down about 15 feet where the tunnel was
filled in. The house has been searched, trashed and searched. Among
the footprints in the rubble are some large elephantine prints.
One of the Brigade (I think it was Lady
Paper) squeezes between the cracks of the collapsed tunnel to see
where it might go. It points to a section of Manhattan where some
power companies make the headquarters. Such as LexCorp, Duchess
Industries, the PanStar Group, Moreau Biochemical, Hammer Industries,
and Stark Industries.
Paladin recognizes these footprints,
they were made by bulettes, the giant shark-like digging animals that
the cat-woman used to attack the Bunker so long ago. The cat-woman
was a member of the ani-men who were developing the Glove Cleaner
virus. They also have giant robots and live by ‘The Law’.
Every Night
Bloodmoon gathers the Kindred and leads them in reciting the laws: What is The
Law? “Father is our God! That is The Law!” What is The
Law? “We obey Bloodmoon! That is The Law!” What is The
Law? “The Earth must be purified! That is The Law!” What
is The Law? “Humans must be humbled! That is The Law!” What
is The Law? “Those who defy The Law must DIE! That is The Law!”
The group searches the house to see
what can be saved. All the information on the vaccine is gone but the
group still has some samples of what McQuark already produced. Lt.
House of PART also has a few doses.
They do salvage a book of Dr. McQuark’s
finger painting. He clams he finds it relaxing.
They take McQuark to Mick and Lydia’s
house
Tuesday October 16, 2018 Kei corners Paladin and complains that
there are no banks on this planet that can convert Imperial credits
to ‘monopoly money’ (local currency). Paladin offers to loan them
some cash to cover their expenses as long as they will repay it if
the group needs funding if they go into space in the future. Yuri
puts on her sweetest smile and thanks him. She also thrusts the
flowers and wine she brought for Shifter into his arms. Yuri also
grabs the little box Kei brought and gives it to Paladin as well.
‘Here you can have her Lust Worms too!’
Paladin politely refuses to take the
box of Lust Worm offended Kei. ‘Hey, they are perfectly
harmless....’ where Yuri says ‘Which is why they are illegal to
transport within Imperial space.’ An incensed Kei counter ‘Only
because people are careless in using them. They are fine, in
moderation.’
The team head over to the ruins of
McQuark Development to search for the tooth. They contact Lt. House
to see of the police had anything that could help with the search.
Lt. House sends his best cadaver dog
and handler. After five hours of searching the tooth is found!
Paladin gives the dog a treat and the handler a 20 dollar gift card
to Starbucks.
They return to the Bunker and Kismet
cleans up the tooth. When it is ready she takes an hour preparing to
do a retrocognition on the tooth. Her vision from the tooth takes her
to the kitchen of Racks restaurant. A bald pudgy man wearing goggles
and an apron (and nothing else) holding a meat cleaver standing in
front of a naked woman (the person whose tooth she is scanning) who
is laying on a stainless steel table. Manfred Saietta is also in the
room. The man with the meat cleaver chops off the woman’s arm.
Kismet feels the intense pleasure the woman felt as the limb
is hacked off.
Kismet hears Manfred saying ‘Good
Cook, very good! I’ll have the arm here, I’ll take the rest with
me.’
The man in the goggles nods and
continues to dismember the giddy girl as the vision ends.
The group then discusses what they need
to do. The commit to ending what is happening at Racks. They come to
the grizzly realization of what is happening to the people who
disappear from Rack’s serving staff and the fate of the people who
visit the Long Island estate of the Saietta family who are never seen
leaving.
The group starts to review everything
that Manfred Saietta and his family are involved in.
The Hunting Bambi (and Hunting Bam-Bam)
franchise is frequented by a member of the Saietta clan (one Zato
Saietta to be specific).
(On August 26 After a Hunting Bambi
session was completed Barbara Horn. The Bambi won the contest by
getting the flag without being hit by a paint-pellet. After the party
in the hunting lodge she was allowed to dress and was paid her prize
money ($5000) by Abe Harris. As Barbara was leaving she was
approached by Zato Saietta. They spoke for a moment and he gave her a
fist full of money. He got in his car and drove away, she got in hers
and followed him. She was never seen again.
This exchange was captured by Dangerous
Adventures security cameras. Abe Harris gave a copy of the footage to
the Brooklyn Brigade when they asked for it.)
Kismet is concerned because her friend
and Resident Advisor Sherry Marsh is going to be a Bambi on October
20. She (Sherry) was talked into it by her boyfriend Spencer.
The suggestion that the group have
someone try to infiltrate the Hunting Bambi group. Kismet tells Volt
and Noir that she tried to infiltrate Racks. That is how the Brigade
learned that Manfred is a powerful psionic.
The Saiettas know her so she can’t
get close to them without risking herself or the operation.
Someone points out that no one on Earth
knows Kei (who is a red head just like Sherry Marsh). In fact they
have two people no one can know, Yuri. Lady Paper says that given
their ‘uniform’ neither of them are shy about showing skin.
Kei and Yuri look over the rules of the
game. Kei is in favor of the idea because that way they have their
own money and won’t have to borrow from Paladin. Reluctantly Yuri
agrees.
Yuri says they have nothing to fear.
Both of them were brain-taped before each mission. They explain that
means copies of their brains, consciousness, and so on were made by
the 3WA computer. If they were not to return to the Thalok Empire for
an extended period the agency will clone them and restore their
consciousnesses.
Kei will say ‘And we have an ace in
the hole.’ She snaps her fingers and a large creature that
resembles a bear crossed with a cat appears. ‘This is Mughi, he can
manipulate the electro-magnet spectrum. Among other things it allows
him to become invisible.’
Kei and Yuri then pet, scratch, and
otherwise pamper the large beast who purrs in contentment as they do.
[I think Kismet joined in the love-fest
for the pair’s favorite pet.’]
