Fantasy Grounds Style Grids.

In Fantasy Grounds I can do the following. 1) Put a map in the image folder. 2) Bring it up and select the grid tool (hex or square) 3) Draw a single hex/square 4) Choose to allow grid snapping or not. If I don't allow snapping I can still display the grid. What I would like with Roll 20 is #3 and #4. I can live with having to draw a 3x3 area of grid like the current grid setup wizard. But really I would l like to be able to display the grid without the snapping. I don't know if this has been mentioned yet but it is been a feature I been wanting since I started using Roll20 as my main VTT.

You can currently hold down alt to move things around without snapping to the grid. Right clicking an object and setting it as a drawing also does the same thing.

Didn't know that setting it as a Drawing would make it ignore grid-snapping. If that is what you're saying, I will have to try that.

Warning: Setting an image to "Is Drawing" will mean that if you clear your drawings all at once you will also clear images that are treated as drawings. As a result I suggest not using "Is Drawing" on any layer you plan on regularly drawing things on.
Given the presence of ALT then I would request that there be an option to select which mode is the defautl.

You can do this by setting the first page as whatever you wish to use (Grid or no grid, hex or square, measurement system, Page size, etc.) and then use the "Duplicate Page" button for every new page you want to add to the campaign. This will save all the Page settings you initialized in the first page of the campaign. Duplicate Page doesn't duplicate the content of the page, only the page settings.

One thing I noticed is that my tokens will snap to the 'center' of the grid (I've actually only done this in hexes, but I assume it's the same) and when I enlarge a normal 1x1 token to say, a 2x2 token, since it still snaps to the 'center' the midsection of the token is in the right hex, with both the head and feet bleeding over into different nearby hexes. I would love a way to make enlarged (or all) tokens 'bottom centered' so you could snap their feet into a grid instead of snapping their waist to a grid. This would make it much clearer which tiles large tokens are actually standing in.

I actually found this out first hand when creating this promo yesterday, so yes I happen to have a screenshot =P You'll notice that the Cthulhu, floating eyeballs, earth elemental and enlarged human warrior are all larger than 1x1, and their 'center' snaps to a hex. Especially in the case of the warrior, and floating eyes, its actually the center of the base of the miniature that should snap to the nearly the bottom of a hex, so you can see their ground-position, Even better still would be if enlarged hexes to snap to a 'vertices' in stead of the center of a hex. This is how we always play IRL, an enlarged creature sits in the center of 3 hexes at the joint.

Ahhh I see what you mean now. At this time tokens snap to the center of hexes. If you hold the Alt key you can turn snapping off while moving a token. Alternately, you can turn off snapping for a token by right clicking on the token and selecting "Is Drawing". Warning: Clearing drawings will clear images set to "Is Drawing" so do not use the "clear drawings" function.
