Wednesday October 17, 2018 In the early AM there is a knock at the door. Paladin (using the intercom) ask who she is and what she wants. She replies her name is Megan and she was sent by The Master. She is allowed in but they are leery. Much to Megan’s surprise the group accuses the Master of being an undead bloodsucker. Amused she gestures and produces a scroll. “My Master sent this scroll of Detect Vampire as per his promise. He will be surprised to learn that he is an undead blood sucker. He conceals it well.” Paladin remarks that there are too many people using the title of ‘master’ as their name, it breeds confusion. Megan nods in agreement and takes her leave. She walks to the nearest bus stop or subway platform. The group splits up to get several things done at the same time. First Kismet heads off to ESU to talk to her Resident Advisor (and friend) Sherry Marsh. Paladin goes to the First National Bank of New York to talk to Dollar Bill. Lady Paper, unfortunately has to go and run her business for a while and gets ensnared with...Paperwork. When Kismet arrived at the dormitory she finds Sherry in her room. Kismet warns her about Distorted Prism, Racks, and Hunting Bambi. Kismet also tells her about the girls who have vanished when the Saiettas are involved and that one of the Saietta is a regular at the Hunting Bambi events held at the Dangerous Adventures Paintball arena. She tells Sherry they have stand-ins for her and the other girl who are trained agents. All that they need is for Sherry and the other girl not to report for the event. Kismet is slightly surprised when Sherry is relieved! Sherry tells Kismet that it was never her idea. It was her boyfriend Spencer who talked her into it. They (mostly he) are in need of money and even the second place prize (2000 for the debut event at the new indoor arena) would get him out of some serious hot water. Kismet tells her that if money is the issue she can give the 2 grand as long as she stays away from Dangerous Adventures. Sherry agrees. Unfortunately Sherry does not know who the other girl is. She says maybe Spencer knows. He can be found at a nearby Wal-Mart Tire and Service center. The girls for the new arena are being advertised as being coeds from ESU. Sherry suggests that maybe Kismet’s pet poltergeist could help find out who she is. Kistmet goes and speaks with the ghost of Orson Arlington, the poltergeist who haunts her dorm room. (It is the room where he hung himself.) Orson does not like that she can see him now but hears her out. Orson communicates with her by writing (in blood) on a tablet in the room. He agrees to help look around if Kismet undresses for him. She doesn’t. She leaves the room while Orson remains behind. Her next stop will be the Wal-Mart to see Spencer. Paladin goes to the First National Bank of New York to talk to Dollar Bill. He finds him in his fish-bowl office in the lobby of the bank. He is the head of security so the glass walls of his office let him keep a constant eye on the tellers for danger. Dollar Bill is in costume and she is wearing her dollar themed body-paint. Bill is using a rubber band to fire paper clips into a paper cup held by Dollar Girl. Bill sends her to get him a cup of coffee so he and Paladin can speak in private. He is delighted to have something to do other than watch the peaceful operations of the bank. Who would rob a bank that is actively being guarded by a superhero and his sidekick? Before Paladin can tell him why he’d come Bill launches into the story of how Dollar Girl came to be his sidekick. It started because she was a very persistent groupie. He decided to train her thinking she’d loose interest but it didn’t. Even the ‘costume’ he selected for her didn’t dissuade her. So he gave up and the duo was formed. Over the mind link Lady Paper suggested that she should have called herself Grand-Girl. Paladin doesn’t pass the suggestion along. Paladin tells Dollar Bill, the leader of the Minute Men, that he would like them to join with the Brooklyn Brigade to take down the Saietta Crime family. It is Wednesday night so the whereabouts of Manfred will be known. He (Paladin) is going to his Long Island Estate to challenge to throw down the gauntlet. Paladin fully expects Manfred to launch an attack, so he wants all the discreet backup he can muster. Dollar Bill agrees. He says the Minutemen will be nearby if they are needed. The Minutemen aren’t the only reinforcements Paladin wants waiting in the wings. He contacts the Inferior Five and has them available. He also places a call to GoGoGirl. While she can’t join the Brooklyn Brigade because of her contract with the Long Island Sentinels prevents dual membership but she can help out from time to time. She agrees to be available of a battle royal erupts between the Saietta clan and the Brigade. After his call to GoGoGirl he goes to talk to NYC’s PART Commander Lieutenant House. House invites him to come down to his office and tell him what the Brigade is up to. Paladin wants to get PART on board. House agrees to have his emergency rapid response team on standby but with no current warrants on the Saietta family there isn’t much he can do but he will do what he can. Paladin tells House that the Saiettas are involved in a nationwide human trafficking ring (based on the fact that Max Barna has Hunting Bambi operations in Los Angeles and New York). House says if the Saiettas are SPBs (Super Power Beings) and operating criminal enterprises across several state lines, then PRIMUS needs to be alerted. House places a call. Paladin has an appointment with Director Andrea Canfield, head of the New York City office of PRIMUS for Thursday morning at 10AM. Kismet goes to Wal-Mart to talk to Spencer. She asked to speak with Spencer. When Spencer hears Kismet of the Brooklyn Brigade is here to see him, he bolts into a run. Kismet easily out distances him and corals him. After letting him know that she isn’t after him. All she wants is for him to answer some questions. When he is assured that they will still be getting the two thousand dollars he is happy to tell Kismet that the other girl is named Angela Kristenson. Out at the New Jersey paper mill Lady Paper gets a visit from Arnim Zola. He tells her that the time for dancing around the subject is over. He knows that the Brooklyn Brigade has the hammer and helmet that were taken from Germania in 1938. When asked how he could be so sure, he said that he had associates who could see through the layers of time. She contacts Paladin and Kismet. They talk it over across the Mind Link. Zola agrees to come to the Bunker at 6PM so they can all discuss it. Paladin didn’t want to bring Arnim inside the Bunker so they got lawn furniture and set up a meeting place in the parking lot (chilly in October but it worked). Promptly at 6 Zola arrives being dropped off by an Uber ride share. The group has a semi-heated discussion with him concerning the fate of the mystic artifacts. He says that the family of Brunnhilde Bletcher wants the artifacts returned to them. Paladin asks how they came to be in the possession of Brunnhilde and Zola tells them that she found the artifacts in a rocky crag while chasing her misbehaving children. Zola says the artifacts, which there are four, need to be together for the magic to work. He says when Brunnhilde found them they called to her and she put them on gaining the powers they bestow. They are the Sandals, Tabard, Helmet, and Hammer of Modi (one of Thor’s sons). The Brigade as the hammer and helmet while the Bletcher family has the Tabard and Sandals. Zola says he represents the Bletcher family who want to reunite the artifacts once more. When Paladin persisted that she was a nazi Arnim insisted that Brunnhilde was first a loyal and patriotic German. Her being a Nazis was a distant second. Kismet did an object reading on the hammer and the history it told matched what Arnim was recounting. The Brigade wanted time to consider Zola’s request. He left, the same way he arrived, and the group had a round table. Lady Paper wants to give the items back to Thor or at least the Asgardians. Paladin also thinks that giving the items back to Asgard is the best idea. The discussion is tabled because the group needs to get to the Saietta estate on Long Island for Paladin to issue his challenge. Paladin goes to the door alone, the Minutemen, I5, GoGoGirl, and the rest of the Brigade are nearby. The gate is opened for him and he is allowed in. Manfred and Bruno come out to speak with him. Paladin makes his challenge and Manfred accepts it. Manfred wants the fight to occur on his estate but Paladin does not want to give the Saiettas the home field advantage. They agree that the battle will happen in one weeks time. Manfred wants Paladin to set the location and he will approve of it. [Clarification: Paladin will provide a list of possible locations and Manfred will select from the list.] Away from the estate Paladin can not believe Manfred agreed to the terms. Now the Brigade starts to brainstorm who they can bring to the fight. They know that the Saietta clan, if you include in-laws and others, numbers into the low two hundreds. Paladin is sure that no all of them have powers, if they did they would have taken over NYC long ago. Still, even if only a few of them have powers the Brigade will be vastly outnumbered. The list of potential allies in the Battle Royal includes: The Minutemen (12), GoGoGirl (1), Kei and Yuri (2), Luthor (using his ProtoKryptonians) (2), The Circle (5), The Canadian Sentinels (5), I5 (5), and the Mystery Men (7). They will also put out a call for all independent heroes (6) to come forth. The call to arms, 45 potential. End Session Wednesday October 17, 2018
