Players are in the middle of an encounter at a church that was celebrating it being sanctified. Turns out it wasn't sanctified, the Elder that was there to sanctify had cheated his way into priesthood and got his position through some type of corruption. So someone has made the church unholy and zombies poured out. Players uncover that there was a plot to discredit the acting lord of Oak Creek Village. The people of that village's taxes had been the main method of to pay for much of the church. Since the lord of the manor had a claim on the adjacent village and the near by Baron also had a claim. When one of the two remove their claim the other by default would get to incorporate into their fiefdom that settlement. That threat has been delt with as they got the council that is on the Manorial court to prevent the vote of no confidence and in fact most voiced confidence in the acting lord. So for the session dealing with the church action new player would play existing bard. The new player can choose to keep that character at level plus any xp gained or take the xp gained and apply the gain to a new character they bring in after the church situation is handled. All characters levels / XP are tracked separately in the game and all players are human. There are rules for spending gp to bring characters that are at a lower level up where they could spend to get the new character to match the highest level living character. This can be party funds that pay for it. https://app.roll20.net/campaigns/journal/12306001/index journal links to see the setting and homebrew rules. Prefer players over 30 as many of us played Dnd from 1st addition and the BECMI sets. It's a more lethal game. If hit with damage greater than 50% then character also experiences an increase of exhaustion. If HP goes to zero or death save are lost by more than 5 then get another exhaustion and take a lingering injury. Majority of these lingering injuries clear up in 10 days of rest. Game splits short rest / long rest into a short rest / long rest and a short heal / long heal where the healing will take a day for a short heal and a week for a long heal. All other resources are gained in normal short rest / long rest time periods of an hour or a day. The game is more challenging. The story has a good amount of role play but combat heavy scenarios can come up as well. XP gets rewarded for role play depending on the tier of play. Currently everyone is in tier 1 which is 50 xp for good rp during the secession and 50 xp for getting an inspiration point. Welcome to Dragons Unleashed and the county of Evergreen. Where you play at the edge of the kingdom of Earnest on the borderlands away from the heart of the kingdom.
