“I 've seen
things you people wouldn't believe... Attack ships on fire… off the shoulder of
Orion... I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All
those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain... Time to die.” Roy Batty… Blade Runner 1982. I’m a
GM, and I’m looking for a few good Players. Do you have what it takes? I’m
new to Traveller, but not RPGs. I started playing D&D back in 1983 and
almost exclusively been DMing. Throughout that time, I’ve played all iterations
of D&D, well not 4e, it sucked. I have to say, I love 5 th
Edition, the most. But I grew weary of
the “super hero” aspects that seemed to slowly creep into D&D, but that version
more so. The “game
math”, or “game structure” is, hands down, the best version. I tried separating
the PCs god like aspects for the game… but it’s was F****ing hard! It’s just too
baked into the character creation. So, I just gave up… but what a shame. 5E… as
I said, has the best math matrices, or turn sequence of all its previous
iterations. So, what am I to do? Then
it hit me. Frank the Tank!... Frank Law!!!!! This dude, oh… this dude, I met PFC
Frank Law, way back in 1984. We were in B Troop ¾ Cav… he was my roommate and
he was always trying to get me to look at “The Traveller”, but I wouldn’t. I
just started to climb that steep hill, that is the role of the DM and I
couldn’t be distracted by some new game system. So, I just kept blowing him
off. Sorry, Frank… you really had something there… I just wished, I stopped to
listen to what you were telling me. But as some smart-ass once said… “Youth
is wasted on the young”. Mongoose’s
Travellers E2! That is what I threw myself into at the end of 2021… and I love
it! Roll20 supports it so, “F” yea… let’s do it! Ok…
enough of that jaw jacking… Lets say, Saturdays or Sundays
at 1:00 PM (that’s 1300 hours for some of you). Eastern Standard time. (Eastern
USA) So,
respond to this invite and I’ll send you my digits (discord info), and we can
chat. That way, we can see if we are a good fit for each other. I already have
2 on the team and 4 more would be great. “Out here,
people struggled to get by with the most basic technologies. A ship would bring
you work, a gun would help you keep it. A captain's goal was simple: find a
crew, find a job, keep flying.” Malcolm "Mal" Reynolds, 2002 We aint doing Firefly…
just a quote to help set the mood.
Hope to hear from you
soon, Dan DaMan
