New to pretty much everything with games like D&D

Hi Everyone! (: I am extremely new to D&D. always wanted to play. I have zero experience and i been reading around the internet and how to play but i get confused making it harder for me to take in all the information. If anyone is interested in teaching me how to play i'll be very willing to learn from you. (: I am currently on summer break before i go back to school and i have quite a lot of free time.
WELCOME! Roll20 is awesome and so are D&D and other Role Playing games A few question first: When do you go back to school? What edition of D&D have you watched/read up on? (if you know) Have you played any other Role Playing games? (so we may able to make comparisons for you) What part of it do you like the most? (if there is any one part you can say you do.)

What is generally a good question to think about also is how tactical do you want to play? My games are usually more in the mind games where the players imagine everything in their minds from descriptions while others like to use a map to mark out every move and there are people that are in between that. The games that use maps sometimes play out like a video game so that could be something for you to look at. The games that rely on a DM/GM to give all the descriptions so that the scene is painted in the players imagination sounds interesting then that is something for you to look into. There are games that fall in between those. Good luck and hope you find a game that you have fun in.
