The team decided that rushing in toward Losser Mirklav the necromancer was a poor choice, and decided to give it a day to rest and recuperate. The team made arrangements with their various factions to stage an assault on the closed Dandymops shop in the Trades Ward... Upon arriving, they found the other four of their siege, dressed rather differently... Jalester Silvermane dressed in light leather armor, looking more like a spy than a knight. "We were called the Steel Shadows for a reason," he reminds Enigma. Apparently he had a hidden side... Yagra Stonefist dressed in good quality breastplate and other weapons. Tashlyn Yafeera had hooked her up with some better gear to prepare for this operation. Marcellus, who was... well, more or less the same. But he had already proven his capabilities in incidents past with the team and was ready to bring his fire once again. Valetta, the priestess of Gond from the House of Inspired Hands, dressed in splint armor and looking more like a warrior than a priest, stating she owed Sigurd a bit of help for everything he's done up to this point. With that out of the way, the team decided on the best way to proceed. Dandymops was out in the open and it would be tricky to get in, even with a Pass Without Trace spell - the team could be easily spotted by bystanders, even with Jalester trying to pull some strings to get the City Watch to turn a blind eye, he can't control all of the citizenry. After Enigma picked the padlock though, the team was able to slip in without anybody spotting them. Looks like luck was on their side... this time. Heading down into the abandoned building, the team found a stairway leading into a basement, and lead into a door that lead to sewer access, with a written warning that it was for city officials only, though only captains of that ward would have the key for it. Jalester decided to show his own skills and pick the lock. With Enigma asking why he didn't ask him to do it, Jalester joked it was for city officials only. Apparently he had a sense of humor after all... Heading in, with Yuan leading the way, the team descended into the sewers, with 'fresh' sewage flowing freely down the sewer vein. However, they came across an arterial passage which must be crossed... and there was no walkway, meaning that they would have to wade through this crap. Valetta warned that the sewage could carry all kinds of diseases and they should move quickly. With that, the team jumped into 3 feet of filth and made their way forward... Enigma was able to quickly spot however that there were secret doors on either side of the passage. Listening closely, he could also hear shouting in Undercommon - the language of the denizens of the Underdark, including the drow... Jalester said that they need to move quickly if there was a conflict, there was no time to waste. Yuan leading the way once again, the secret door was opened and he headed inside. However, he found a conflict already brewing, as drow warriors and skeletons were scattered across the floor, dead, and alive ones were clashing at one another. And all the while, he witnessed an old acquaintance, Soluun Xibrindas, being handed a stone-like object from a fellow warrior. As Yuan made his way to strike the other warrior down, who was in the way, Soluun recognized Yuan from a previous incident, called him out, and then bolted for the staircase behind him, escaping the battle, but not before Enigma got a shot on him. Jalester shouted that they'll hold off these attackers, who were apparently trying to kill Losser and had taken the stone from him, while the rest of the team heads for Soluun to get the stone from him, as the rest of the back up team drew arms and fought the Bregan D'aerthe drow with everything they had, leaving the rest of the team to chase after Soluun, who had escaped the building, gotten to the street and took to the rooftops to try and elude the party. However, the chase almost ended in failure, as the team tripped and bumbled their way through various hazards and even Glyphs of Warding set up on some buildings to thwart burglars, which delayed Ray and Yuan significantly. Enigma was on Soluun the whole time and even managed to almost capture him, but he managed to wriggle free at the last moment and kept up the chase; all participants were getting rather winded at this point after so much straight running. After a solid minute, the team ran out of buildings to run across and found themselves in Mistshore, and as Soluun tried to duck away, he got blindsided by a female warrior in black leather, who swiped the stone from him and took off down the street as thugs in dark leather armor got in Soluun's way, leading him to shout out in rage at being robbed. Looks like the chase for the stone wasn't going to be quite so easy... Who else wants their hand on the stone? Did Jalester, Yagra, Marcellus and Yagra survive their altercation with the other Bregan D'aerthe forces and Losser's skeletons? And what else lies in the way of the party as they attempt to capture the stone? Find out next time... on Waterdeep: Dragon Heist!!
