explorer mode/ transparent token issues

I realize a similar issue has been reported several times, but my issues is slightly different. When dynamic lighting and explorer mode are both enabled on a page, all monster tokens appear transparent to my players, yet remain opaque for me, the dm. i have set control of each creature to me, the dm, yet the problem persists. When explorer mode is turned off the issue is resolved. I don't mind scrapping explorer mode for my campaign if need be, but I was hoping there might be a fix for my specific issue.  I apologize for the redundant post but most of the related issues I read involved the dm's account having the transparency issues, and for my pages it is only the players' accounts that are seeing the transparent tokens.

That probably has to do with range in respect to light and vision. As a creature gets farther away, it tends to become less visible, swallowed by darkness. Normally, they would just get darker, but since the map has persistence, its image stays visible. It's just a natural consequence of a dimming token and a persistent background. Since the GM is unaffected by such things as light, vision, or persistent explored areas, the token looks solid. Basically, things that are harder to see become less visible, but the map remains. They look transparent.
