Before the city was a huge pit that had been excavated and we made our way through the gathering darkness to the edge of it. Down in the pit is an ancient temple, surrounded by standing stones and guarded by cultists and undead. Even in the dark there was no real way to sneak down the track and enter the temple so we made a plan. There was an unholy wedding so we needed to look the part. We all did our best to appear as if we were ne'er-do-wells and vagabonds so as to blend in with the other guests. Samba and Wrendell would go first being the best looking, with Lea, Eldon, and Nickolai as a shifty looking entourage. I donned a loose robe and mixed in with the shield maidens acting as a squad of guards at the rear of the group. As we got to the outer colonnade a dubious looking concierge stepped forward to ask what we were doing there. 'Excuse us sir but we are very late to the evenings events. Let us pass at once.' 'I'm going to have to see some credentials first. We don't just let anyone in.' Samba looked back at Nickolai, 'What are you waiting for you ignorant slug! Show him the blasted invitation.' Nickolai presented the invitation, which to all intents, was genuine. The concierge took a look at the invitation then looked back at our group, once more at the invitation and another once over of the party. 'Very well, you'd best get inside then. Moldark, unlock the door.' 'Yes sir, yes. Right away.' The assistant fumbled with a large keyring and went to open the large ornate doors. But as Samba went to step forward through the pillars a magical force prevented him from passing. Nickolai seemed to have no problem but the concierge turned with a shocked look on his face. 'One moment.' he looked at Nickolai. 'Can you show me that invitation again?' Samba was flustered now. He tried his best to sound dangerous 'DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM?' but the astute concierge was having none of it. 'Moldark, stop. They're dastardly Party Crashers!' he turned back to us and cried to his eldritch master "EvArdacLe!" and black tentacles squirmed up from the ground to attack. At this point it became evident that we were not going to be getting without a fight. Everyone rushed forward with weapons drawn to meet the temple guards that rushed out to stop us. Derro cultists, a ghoul shadowmancer, and dark mage made a valiant stand. The shield Maidens spread around the sides to stop the other guards while the main battle happened at the front doors. The doorman was shot down, the concierge took the key and tried to get inside, I bashed the concierge down, retaking the key. Nickolai Took the key from me to unlock the door and finally Lea was the one who opened the door to the vestibule and rushed in. The cloak room was piled with bleeding bodies which we passed to get through a set of doors into the nave. As we pushed in, the guests all turned to see the disturbance while up at the altar the wedding proceedings were taking place. Vampires, and dwarven berserkers rushed in to attack us trying to keep their precious bride and groom safe... A brawl broke out at the doorway, then we got some ground and started to push the wedding guests back towards a large fire pit in the middle of the room. Wrendell flew up under the balcony to get a better shot of the wedding party. 'Aim for the groom. He's the bigger target.' and our archers peppered him with arrows. Wrendell got a bit closer and fired off a magic blast of holy energy which burned into the wounded groom's head, setting it alight like a human torch. The bride screams and runs back into the chancel and starts to climb up the wall. The priest, a wicked looking gnome, hissed in disbelief. He reached his arms up and called on his dark masters, summoning a wall of blades which blocked off the rear of the church.
