Shift+ping does not work

I am using chrome and safari on a mac. I am logged in as a GM on chrome and I have created a second account as a player on safari. The reason for this is that I want to show a "players' view" to my tv for my players to see, while I can see everything in my laptop. So I connected my mac with a tv and I "sent" the safari window (with the player account) to the tv. Now, the problem. I can "ping" and everything works great. If I ping and then press the shift key, it remains a normal ping. If I hit the shift button and then press my mouse button, nothing happens. Absolutely nothing, not even the normal ping. I am not sure if this is a bug or I am doing something wrong. Maybe the problem is that both accounts (GM and player) comes from the same computer. Anyone has any ideas?

I don't think this is your issue, based on description, but the most common reason Shift+Ping doesn't work is when you are on the Ruler Tool, or GM is on the Reveal Areas tool. You need to be on the Select tool, for it to work. But it sounds like you are already on Select tool, since you said it will Ping normally, just won't Shift-Ping. My next idea is maybe Shift is assigned another function (a "Hot Key") in your browser, or your computer, or possibly has a function in your multi-monitor control? Another possibility is Safari being a problem, I don't know that it is a problem, but a possible trouble shooting method. Can you try it with 2 Chrome windows? Can you try another secondary browser like... is there a Mac Firefox? Someone else will come along with more troubleshooting ideas, if this doesn't help.
Definitely give Gold's suggestions of the 2 chrome windows a try (or firefox), and let us know if that improves things.

I tried with 2 chrome windows, but nothing changed, still doesn't work. I also tried with the two windows on my desktop (no tv monitor attached). The problem is that, when I hold the shift button, I cannot ping, nothing happens. If i press my mouse button and then shift, it's just a normal ping. I don't really care much, but since I don't have a good view at the tv monitor while we play (take a look at the links at the bottom) the "shft+ping" would be the easiest way for me to move the "camera" where the action is... <a href="http://labyrinthos.info/images/_dnd_protaseis-idee" rel="nofollow">http://labyrinthos.info/images/_dnd_protaseis-idee</a>... <a href="http://labyrinthos.info/images/_dnd_protaseis-idee" rel="nofollow">http://labyrinthos.info/images/_dnd_protaseis-idee</a>... <a href="http://labyrinthos.info/images/_dnd_protaseis-idees/par14.jpg" rel="nofollow">http://labyrinthos.info/images/_dnd_protaseis-idees/par14.jpg</a>
Sorry for the previous post, it was me with my second account (the one for the players). However, problem solved. I just had to use firefox, and everything works great. :)

(That's not really solved... glad it's working for you though.)
fantasmamore, what version of Chrome were you using?

Just a thought but you might have an extension interfering. If you want to try to troubleshoot the other browser(s) further you can go to <a href="https://wiki.roll20.net/Solving_Technical_Issues" rel="nofollow">https://wiki.roll20.net/Solving_Technical_Issues</a> and try the steps.
Hello all, sorry for the delay. I deactivated all my extensions in chrome and nothing happened. Then, (with the extensions deactivated) I quit and restart the browser and everything works ok. Hope this helps anyone that has the same problem :)

Similar effect but you don't have an extra head bobbing around. Maybe that's just my OCD kicking in =).
To tell the truth, I didn't know that I could... :) Oh, I love roll20!
