Black Map on Firefox, ok on Chrome?

So weirdly.. was in a game.. and today for some reason on Firefox the map was black. My friend, also playing in the same session, on firefox too reported the same issue. The other players were both using Chrome, and the map showed up fine. I managed to get a shot of both screens side by side.. https://gyazo.com/cd4d25efb2eb2a0fbeda39ce81b95c7b I can't figure out what settings need to change. Yesterdays game, by the way, was fine. We all could see perfectly on Firefox.. I don't know what changed in the last 24 hours.. anyone encounter this? if so.. any suggestions?

HI Leon 4a61! Was it black for you as GM? It could just be that Dynamic Lighting was enabled and the tokens had no sight. Or were you both players? More details would help.
Both cases of Firefox were players. The GM and 2 other players were on Chrome. All people on Chrome saw map and other tokens normally (Left side frame) but on Firefox I could only see my own token, nobody elses token, and not the map (Right side frame) All tokens had sight/Dynamic lighting enabled. The map had Dynamic lighting on, Daylight on, no fog of war or anything else. .
Ok so interestingly... someone sent me a PM off this thread and suggested having the GM turn off DL and then turn it on again. I just asked them to try this in a test.. and it was like a light switch. The black map revealed all when lighting feature was switched off.. and then when they enabled it again, the proper map with the right things blocked by line of sight etc. all appeared. So I don't know if that was something that caused the firefox browsers to click on or what.. but switching off DL and switching on again, seems to be the cure for this particular weird bug.

Without seeing actual token settings, then, it's impossible to tell. My guess is that it was a missed setting, but that's just speculation. The next time it happens, here are some links to explore, and my DL checklist: HOW TO USE DYNAMIC LIGHTING How To Set Up Dynamic Lighting Dynamic Lighting Checklist <<< TECH & SETTINGS FOR DYNAMIC LIGHTING Default Settings For Dynamic Lighting Here's a "why can't my players see anything?" checklist. The important thing is to verify . Don't assume. This list is written with GMs in mind, but can help players work through issues with their GM. The token is on the VTT It is assigned to the character The player has control over the character The token is on the Token/Object layer It is not blocked off by DL lines from seeing the immediate surroundings Make sure the player is looking at their token's immediate area. Shift-Click and hold on the token to pull the player's view to that area. If Fog of War is being used, that the area the token is in has been cleared The player has not been Split from the Party (Check the Help Center if this is unfamiliar) If Dynamic Lighting of any kind is being used: The token has sight turned on The token has a light source, or Nightvision (UDL) or personal light (LDL) In UDL it may be necessary to move the token one square to get everything working, or in extreme cases, refresh the (user's) page. Can you see a rotating cube in this URL ? If not, the browser needs to be WebGL compatible (99%+ are).
Thanks Kieth. Had them do a quick screenshot for me on those things Token settings: https://gyazo.com/14508c934f7e02d7c0842e8166a07cd2 Page Settings: https://gyazo.com/5969d72a877be35eb58db51a6f563dc1
I have seen that happen too once in a while.. GM turning DL on and off again real quick also fixed that for us. Sounds to me like a browser thing.. if other people are able to see the map just fine.. then it is not the page settings.. and your token settings look correct you should be able to see stuff.. so. my money is on something with firefox especially if TWO PEOPLE on different computers and both using FIREFOX have the same weird black screen.. that really sounds like something odd with the browser.. maybe extensions or something causing mischief?
Thanks a lot for this thread, we were about to quit session, when the DL turn off/on thing worked. now we can kill some Barbarians with ease :-)
Glad it helped someone! Was driving us insane!
Although this workaround "fixes" the problem, it is still a bug that needs to be addressed and fixed asap!
