Using Charactermancer on Sidekicks

I'm creating two sidekicks for my next campaign so I can run it with just two players. I finally figured out how to drag and drop a sidekick from TCoE into my game. I wanted to see how leveling would work, and that's when things went off the rails. I know you can do it manually, but I wanted to try using the Charactermancer after finding a post where someone said it would work. When I did that, it basically just converted the sidekick into a regular character with full stats.  I saw in some of these old posts asking similar questions that the issue of sidekick character sheets and leveling would be addressed. Has it been addressed? Am I missing anything? I apologize for the noob question but I've done a lot of poking around and this issue doesn't seem to have been resolved.
Most sheets made for games like Pathfinder, 5e, WTRPG, and so on generally have either a box or a tab to convert a sheet into stats for an NPC. It's generally not recommended that you give enemies PC-based abilities, or rather trying to build them *as* one, generally because of the lengths it would take to do it and the fact that it's limiting to use the player options to accurately reflect what a monster or a very unique NPC would be, even if that uniqueness is as boring or mundane as "peasant."

Hi Kevin! AFAIK, Sidekick rules have not been mechanically supported yet. You'll probably need to handle it manually.
