Cannot Open Handout's After Closing From Separated Window

Opening up a topic that has been posted about quite a few times. Mainly this forum here  but has since been closed due to inactivity. I am still experiencing this issue as a GM. My players experience it as well. In sum, handouts function fine until opened on a separate window. Upon which, after closing, I cannot open the handout again until refreshing.

The devs have looked at this, and it appears to be a quirk of Chrome that is difficult to code around. To work around the problem, when your focus is on the popped out window, refresh (reload) instead of closing. This will close the window in such a way as to allow it to be reopened. It may also generate a garbage tab on the VTT window, but that can be ignored.
Yeah, this issue has completely broken my GMing workflow. I have two monitors and I would pop out npc sheets and handouts on the 2nd monitor so they don't take up real estate on the VTT (even when minimized they take up some space and are very hard to find on some maps). I've taken to open a separate browser for the game to keep track of opened handouts/sheets. I no longer pop them out but have them open/minimized on one browser while the other browser is used for VTT/chat. The downside is the lag but so far it is manageable.

Does refreshing as above not allow you to maintain your normal work flow? I used to run two concurrent sessions while recording games. It was a pain to juggle two instances, but I never noticed a significant lag. The second instance was a  Dummy Account , that had co-control over all PCs, so it could share their vision. That may have made a performance difference.
I haven't tried the refreshing step yet. I'll have to give it a go. But that's not the only issue I have with popped out handouts, I have the issue where the handout 'breaks' when clicking on a link to another handout. I know of the ctrl-click workaround you mentioned in another thread, but usually forget.
