Character sheet export or backup

Hi guys, I am trying to find a way to save my character sheet outside of the game. I created a dummy game to experiment with macros without making a mess of our game's chat. Then I needed a character and saw there's an option to import a character from a file (which would be more convenient than writing a new one...). But I've so far failed to discover how to obtain such file from my existing character in another game. Anyone knows how to do it? Thanks

There's no official way to do this, and this is by design. Some sheets have the ability to import text versions of characters (possibly in JSON format), but they are usually designed for important stat blcoks and characters designed on external generators. But this goes only one way - imports only, it's not an exprt function. Is that what you are referring to when you say this? There is the character vault.&nbsp; You can import characters into the vault, and then export them from there into any game that has vault access enabled. <a href="https://wiki.roll20.net/Character_Vault" rel="nofollow">https://wiki.roll20.net/Character_Vault</a> That will allow you to save a backup of a character, but it doesn't give you a file.&nbsp; You also can't interact with the character data there, since character sheets (the sheet UI) are only available inside a game.

what character sheet are you using?
Hi, Thanks for your answers all. I did see the option for the vault but since it required an advanced subscription, and the game seemed to have the option to import from a file, I was wondering if there was an option to save the sheet directly on my local machine. At first it was just to avoid having to create a character manually (which huh... turns out to be much less time consuming than I was apprehending for some reason...). But once I thought about it I realized that all of our characters existed only in the roll20 game, and it would suck if something happened to that game for whatever reason, and we lost all our sheets. And to answer all questions: we're using the last Warhammer 4th edition sheet listed under Warhammer FRPG I guess all of that pretty much answers my question though: from what I understand, other than the vault, there is no straightforward way of copying a character from one game to another.

Not without a subscript. With a Pro subscription, it is trivial to copy almost anything from game to game using the Transmogrifier, provided the games all have the same creator. To copy characters between games with different creators requires the Vault, and a Pro or Plus subscription.
