I am looking for 3-5 level 1 adventurers to play in a new homebrew setting for D&D 5e. This will be played on Fridays from 4:30 - 9:30 and should only run a few sessions long. Hizuku, Land of Sunrise Hizuku is a far eastern, or Japanese, inspired setting of a set of island nations. Taking inspiration from the Onimusha series along with a few samurai movies, afro samurai like animations, classic tales of yokai, and much more (from a westerner outlook). The nation of Hizuku has just come off a war with the far-off imperial dragons of Shimna (stand in for China) which has ended in a tremulous peace treaty between the two great nations. However, the great Emperor Honai of Hizuku has fallen ill. Ever since the war started, the great emperor's health has steadily declined and many in his cabinet are doing all they can to keep the emperor safe and healthy while attempting to enforce his ever devolving will. The seven provenances of Hizuku, whose warlords had pledged fealty to Emperor Honai, are now starting to question if the emperor is fit to continue their rule. Rumors of Shimna poisoning, plots of betrayal and treachery from within the court, and general unease has led the warlords of each providence to seek control over new territories and to grab as much power as they can in these unstable times. During these events, young adventurers seeking to make names and wealth for themselves have started becoming more and more common. Strife feeds the evil yokai’s powers, causing monsters of all sorts to start showing up more and more frequently. Small villages that once sought protection from the warlord of their province have been left undefended while the armies are engaging in political war. Coin is to be made, and legends are quickly being born. Will you be the next master swordsmen, the next great thief, or a master of the silver tongue? Lore of the common races: In Hizuku, most of the races remain unchanged or simply have a minor twist to them. Many act the same as they do in other setting but some of the more commonly played races have a bit of extra lore to them. Dragonborn : Dragonborn are from the neighboring nation of Shimna that is just across the ocean from Hizuku. Dragonborn follow the imperial laws of their Dragon rulers. Dwarfs: Dwarfs are the common working class of the mines and architectural work of Hizuku. They are commonly found in mining towns or large more industrial cities. Elves : Elves in this settings are guardians of the yokai. While sakura elves (Eladrin/ wood elves) protect and watch over the woodland yokai, High elves act as wandering priests and shamans who banish evil yokai. Drow/Shadar-kai on the other hand, are elves that have fallen to the evil magics of the yokai. Gnomes: Are generally an uncommon race and also come from the lands of Shimna where their magics are used to power strange and fantastical inventions. Half Elves : Half Elf is generally seen as a vagabond who has no home. Though many may join their elven kin to protect the world against yokai, many half elves never truly setting on one spot for long. Halflings : Halflings are farmers and field workers. Jolly and contempt in their work, they tend to live in rural fields and are not all that technologically advanced. Half Orcs/Orcs : Though the Orc race is seen as pillagers and raiders, many of the world hire orcs as mercenaries. The Orc warlord, Anoda the savage, united many of the orc tribes under one banner and pledged loyalty to the emperor. They are proud warriors and see the other races as weaker in strength but greater in intelligence. Many will simply serve an orc out of fear of their legendary rampages rather than respect. (Please note that half orcs look generally unchanged but full blooded orcs will be the eastern pig orc interpretation). Humans : The most common race in Hizuku. Think of any other human race in any other setting just with a feudal Japan culture. Tieflings : Half oni are seen as horrible creatures who tie their blood back to the demon king Oda Nobunaga. Though Tieflings can hail from other oni as well, their reputation for being demon/oni kin persists and they are seen with contempt. Though some may know that not all Tieflings are bad, many have heard stories or had direct conflict with the half oni in the past due to Nobunaga's war across Hizuku. Goblins : Though many see goblins in the same light as a racoon or a possum, Goblins are forest yokai who ended up becoming infatuated with civilizations near them. Goblins are seen as strays who lounge about and eat left overs. However, many goblins are also kept around as workers in smaller  establishments as when a goblin loves to do something, they work diligently at it. Minotaur : Minotaur are a strong oxen like race who are protectors of the farm land. Legend has it that long ago, the halflings made a deal with an Ushi-Oni to help protect their lands as they were being raided and attacked by the wild life and bandits of the region. Thus, the Ushi-Oni turned many of the halfings into the Minotaur who still to this day protect halfling caravans and tend to the farmlands. Those are the races I have gone over so far. If you wish to use any other race, please explain how or why they are in the setting. It doesn't have to be huge. The First Adventure: Adventure 1 is going to be the story of Imashoto Village     The village of Imashoto is located in between the Midono province held by the Yomada clan (A clan of humans who have concord much of the region in an attempt to unite the nation), the northern orc clans of Asal (Whose clans are held together by the war chief Anoda the Savage), and the Eshinken province of the Sakura Asa clans (Which is a Union clan of the races lead by the Sakura Elves). In the cycle of Yotoro, year 568, the village of Imashoto strikes gold in its salt mines.     In no time, Imashoto village was quickly visited by adventurers, merchants, and vagabonds motivated by the greed that was quickly consuming the city. Imashoto was transformed from a small village into a prospering mining town.     However, recent monster and yokai attacks have caused a hold on the mining. You are part of a small group of adventurers who have come to the town to seek out this mine or its wealth for one reason or another as rumors of the miners breaking into a lost ruin an unleashing these beasts start to spread. To create a character, you must follow these rules: 1: Read up on the minimum lore listed above including if there is a listed race you would like to play. 2: Be willing to work with the DM as not every bit of lore is per-established. I am new to a full blown online session but not new to DMing. 3: Do NOT be racist, closed minded, a "that guy" (you know what we mean), sexist, homophobic, trans-phobic, etc. Aka, the don't be a horrible person rule. 4: Be open and ready to play on discord when the time of the game is set. 5: Do not become hostile to other players at the table for what happens. In game is in game but remember you are talking with another human being. 6: Use point buy for stats. 7: Have fun.
Hey, me and a couple buds might be interested, my discord is slam#1001 if you wanna reach out.
I don't normally like point buy but this setting seems interesting enough for me to try it, I have a few ideas for characters that could fit this I think. If you're willing to have me I'd like to join! Probably will be a human all things considered they are what I tend to do with GMs I haven't played before.

For those of you still milling it over, I still have more than enough room. If we do not play this week we can also try for next week.
Due to a change in the next few work weeks, the time frame of the game will be changed from the previous 12 - 5 to 4:30 - 9:30 (PST). The game is still for Fridays and is only meant to be a few sessions long.
Hello I am interested in joining my discord is wicked88 #6568 if you want to reach out. I have not played with point buy for stats but I am a fast learner.
