S056_The_Big_Day October 21, 2018 Sunday
Cyberpunk is
playing with his sister Sara. Mughi plays with both of them, despite
his size and power he is extraordinarily gentle with the little girl.
Yuri is playing
Solitary while Kei cleans her bazooka. Paladin is
performing monitor duty. Horati takes care of his church obligations
and then monitors for thing of interest. Kismet is recovering from
the injuries she sustained while the Brooklyn Brigade was rescuing
the kidnapped Dr. Edgar Cizko.
After Kei is
finished with cleaning her bazooka she lets Sara play with it, she
makes sure it is unloaded (she double-checks at least three times).
Sara is surprised how light and easy to carry it is.
That evening Joe
Nardini calls Paladin. He wants to drive over to the base and talk to
Paladin face to face. When he arrives he has an awkward request. One
of his CIs (confidential informants) has been missing for 3 days and
he is concerned for her welfare. Officially he can’t do anything
because of … issues. Her name is Diamond and she is only about 17
years old.
Nardini tells him
that Diamond usually worked near ‘x’ and ‘y’ streets. He
gives him a picture of Diamond from her arrest records.
Paladin will head
down to X and Y street and starts the painstaking task of asking
everyone he can if they have seen this girl. He hasn’t worked his
angle very long when Kismet contacts him reminding him that she can
do an object reading if Nardini has something that belongs (of had
belonged) to Diamond.
Cyberpunk is the
only member of the group who does not get involved in the search. He
has no interest in helping a sex worker. Horati goes to ‘x’
and ‘y’ street and mirrors Paladin’s ‘have you seen this
girl’ search pattern.
Nardini mets
Paladin in the alley be the ‘Eat’ diner. Very reluctantly Nardini
gives Paladin a pair of Diamond’s underwear. Paladin asks no
questions and refrains from judgment. Nardini says that if they find
her he is going to throw her a$$ in the car and drive her home to
Iowa personally! He says he should have done that long ago, if he had
maybe Diamond would be safe now.
Paladin exits the
car and Nardini drives away.
While Paladin takes
the object to Kismet for the reading Horati has a bit of luck. He
finds a street walker named ‘Rose’ who tells him that Diamond
went home to Cow-phuck Iowa. Rose says that Diamond has probably
already married farmer Billy-Jo-Jim-Bob and is getting ready to start
pushing out a bunch of kids.
Horati asks if
Diamond told her that she was leaving. Rose answers that she had not
but Diamond has been talking to Sister Jamie. If she vanished after
talking to Sister Jamie she probably left the life and headed back to
wherever home used to be.
Sister Jamie is
convincing that way.
Kismet takes a lot
of extra time in the preparation for the reading. When she begins she
will get the impression of Diamond talking to someone. She does not
see the person but she senses that Diamond knows her and does not
fear her. When she finishing talking to the person she turns to walk
away.
As she walks away a
cloth that smells like medicine is pressed to her face from behind.
Diamond struggles but is not able to free herself. She passes out and
is lost in a sea of blackness.
Kismet then does a
mind scan for Diamond and finds her! Horati arrives at
the place. It is a apartment building that is being used as a house
of worship by the Strip Church. They do a quick bit of research and
learn the Strip Church was founded by a former prostitute and exotic
dancer who got out of the life upon finding religion. He uses his
N-Ray vision to scope out the house and finds Diamond in prayer for
Sunday services with a half dozen or so other women.
After a quick check
of the place the Brooklyn Brigade find that no one is seemingly being
held against their wills. They have succeeded in what Nardini asked
them to do. They provide all their finding to him and he says that he
will take care of it from here.
Kismet and Paladin
head off to where Kismet sensed the location of Diamond. Kei and Yuri
will hold down the fort while. Horati uses his N-Ray vision to scope
out the building and he can't see through unhallowed. He will see a
girls including Diamond in a pray session. There are 12 girls and the
a older woman leading the mass. Horati check so see if the woman
(Sister Jamie) is human She seems to be human. They learn that the
Diamond is at the Strip Church. They call Nardini and tell him she
was kidnapped and brought into the church . After telling Nardini he
says that he will take over from here.
October 22, 2018 Monday The day passes,
Paladin is anxious about the gods not getting in touch with them. He
gets in contact with Sophitia Alexandria, the demigod pastry chef of
San Francisco California. Sophita tells Paladin she does not think
the gods will get involved. Paladin says they should considering that
Azor might be looming around a corner preparing to reenter this
dimension. Plus he has the artifacts of Magni that he wants to return
to the Asgardians.
Sophitia apologizes
but either the gods don’t care at the moment or are dealing with
other things. Sorry.
October 23, 2018 Tuesday The duel is tomorrow at noon. The
Brigade spend their time preparing themselves, mentally and
physically for the event tomorrow.
October 24, 2018 Wednesday The Big Day is
arrives! The dual is to be at high noon. The two forces, 40
plus SPBs on either side face off. The Saietta’s also employ a
score of non-powered fodder among their ranks. When the assault
begins the non-powered fodder start lobbing canisters of red dust
into the fray. The dust seems to be harmless and does not even
obscure sight by much.
The members of the
Brooklyn Brigade use a variety of methods to avoid coming into
contact with the powder.
After several
seconds of combat a huge pentagram appears on the earth along with
five men in red robes at each distant point of the star. The instant
they appear the men utter the final world of their spell.
Everyone who was
touched by the red dust vanished including the Saiettas and the
people distributing the powder! No one is left behind except for the
members of the Brooklyn Brigade and the men in the robes.
The course of the
battle changes, instead of an ensemble of heroes locked in a war with
the darkest powers, the Brooklyn Brigade enters into a fight for
survival with five magi.

of the five magi are still here. One was being teamed up on by three
SPBs and invoked his ‘panic button’ to get the freak out of
dodge!]
