trying to use the DnD 3.5 template character sheet

So I'm a total newb, and I'm trying to use the template character sheet or DnD 3.5. Unfortunately it will only let me enter certain fields like hp, name alignment etc, and won't let me enter anything in other fields such as attributes. They all show as a ten and text fields won't open when I hover the 10. How do I open the fields?

in the 3.5 sheet the grey fields are autocalculated from the fields to the right. Your ability scores should be entered in the Base column, and any modifiers after that, then the grey fields will give you a total
