Eiric, I love your optimism.  I really do.  However, if they don't say it is 99.99% likely to be D&D 5e. Phyll, Will send you a link (if you ask) to an active Discord group that specializes in bringing in people to D&D.  Disclaimer...I am not an 'officer' or anything important on there.  Just a GM.

World of Darkness games: Vampire, Werewolf, etc? Pathfinder? There are a ton of people happy to help! Just have to find the right ones. 

just d&d, i’m trying to get use to the game before i slowly drag my siblings into playing too lol
