players cant see map (dnd)

-Lost mine of phandelver goblin ambush map I moved the player ribbon over to the goblin ambush map (or any other map for that matter) and they only see a black screen. I can't reveal the areas either, and I can't seem to find a way to reveal the map for them. For some reason, only the first map they can see completely (the area/location map). I even made a new session to see if it was just bugged, but it happened again.  I tried to change layers by right clicking the map and selecting "GM layer" and it just made the whole page transparent grey. I also couldnt right click to change the layer back to normal, so I deleted it and made a new test. Around the 3rd try I tried to add "sight" to players, but that still didnt work. Their tokens were "unassigned/generic" tokens and they had control over their movements. I regularly tried to reveal the areas to them using the Eye icon on the left sidebar. One thing I did notice was that the (1st page) area map had a cloud instead of an eye when revealing the area (not sure if it matters) and ONLY that page prompted a "add fog of war?" to where I clicked On EDIT: If I added torches to the map, I was able to see what those torches lit up as a player. I don't really want to scatter torches to let them see the entire map if needed, though...

I have seen this issue in a number of games. The only thing that fixed it was leaving the campaign and then rejoining it. I had to do this 3-4 times in one session a couple weeks ago. Though as I continue reading, it doesn't seem like the same issue I had. So, it sound's like your issue is that dynamic lighting is turned on. This is fine if you want it on. On players tokens, you need to assign the tokens, turn on vision (if they have darkvision, you turn on night vision as well) and make sure to to activate their vision on the first tab under the '...' button near the top left of the tab. At least, that is what I do. Also...I always give characters with no darkvision a view distance of 5 feet in darkness. This allows them to at least see their tokens.
