Premise Ulf Ironborn, a brutal native of Skovland, has recently arrived in Doskvol after the end of the Unity War. Joined by a small yet powerful gang of thugs he has begun carving out territory in the Docks. This has put Ulf at odds with the Billhooks, a savage gang who like Ulf's nationality as little as they do his jacking their turf. As the war between the two escalates a ship at port is caught in the crossfire and sunk. This event has the Bluecoats on high alert. Security around the ships is tightening. The Grinders, a group of former dock and refinery workers, may have sympathy for their Skovlander cousin but Ulf's war is cutting into their own plans. They're calling for anyone willing to wade into the mix and calm things down. Game Information The above is what Blades in the Dark calls the 'Starting Situation'. The opening churn that the players are thrown into to stake out a future for their own Crew. Blades is a game about being a scoundrel in the city of Doskvol. It takes place in a fantasy world that suffered a cataclysm and turned to technology. Electroplasm powered lighting generators protect the city from the Deathlands; huge metal ships hunt leviathans in the ink black seas to refine their blood into fuel; ghosts haunt every district seeking vengeance and life essence. The players will create characters, a crew (with it's own character sheet), and try to rise in Tier from a gang to an empire. Campaign Information The schedule for the campaign is as follows: Games 1-3: We'll create characters for the Billhook's crew and play out Scores against Ulf Ironborn. [Already complete, you can find out what happened in the Episode Log ] Games 4-5 (7/21 and 7/28): We'll create characters for Ulf Ironborn's crew and play out Scores against the Billhooks. Games 6+ (8/4 and beyond): The players will create their own crew to wade into the situation they've now had a hand in making. This lets us get started, learn the ropes of the system, and establish shared narrative going into the Starting Situation. Session Info Time : Weekly, Thursday nights, 7pm-10pm US Eastern.
