The Klingons are pressing the attack, and with their newly-developed cloaking technology, they have managed to bring nearly 40% of Federation territory under their spiked heel. The Federation’s secret weapon, the USS Discovery , has disappeared and with it any chance of counterattack. Starfleet is desperate and needs to recreate the success of the Discovery to mount any kind of viable defense. Ship:&nbsp; During this season, you will play as the bridge crew of the USS Crossfield . The Crossfield is a science vessel whose primary remit is the research, discovery, or development of new propulsion technologies to give Starfleet the upper hand in its losing battle against the Klingon Empire. Details:&nbsp; This section of the campaign is linear and comprises five core episodes. It is intended to introduce you to the mechanics of Star Trek Adventures and allow you to get used to how the game works. As such, the Crossfield is commanded by an NPC captain. It has a focus on Science Officers and Engineers, although Security and Command characters will not be without gameplay. It should also introduce several of the story themes present in Season 2. +++ Season 2 +++ (2376, TNG Era, Shackleton Expanse Campaign Guide) Era:&nbsp; The section of the campaign is set over one hundred years later in 2376, one year after the formal end of the Dominion War, a quadrant-wide conflict that erupted over the course of three years. With peace now tentatively settling throughout the galaxy, Starfleet has refocused on its tenets of science and peaceful exploration. To that end, you are under orders to chart a region known as the Shackleton Expanse, far into the Beta quadrant. Ship:&nbsp; You may build your ship from scratch, as a group, to your preferences. One of the players will be chosen by consensus during Session 0 to be the Captain. Details:&nbsp; This section of the season will focus on exploring an area of space deep in the Beta Quadrant named the Shackleton Expanse, based on a dedicated map that will be created by the GM. It contains eight core episodes that make up a central mystery, although these will be interspersed by smaller events that occur during the process of exploration. Distress calls, scientific inquiry, diplomatic incidents, and other tense situations may rear their head as you learn more about this region of space. Season 2 is a sandbox, although the progress players make in the core episodes will be transparent and the method to continue to progress will be signposted, akin to an open-world computer RPG. They can choose to engage with the smaller events at their leisure, to provide additional resources, allies, enemies, or lore.
