Disclaimer: This adventure is a work of fiction aimed at providing you and your friends with many hours of fantastic entertainment. Although devils and the Nine Hells play prominent roles in this story, the evil they represent is meant to be fought and overcome. Wizards of the Coast fully endorses the kicking of evil’s butt. Let darkness fall and light prevail! We strongly advise that you not play this adventure backward, lest Asmodeus appears in a puff of smoke to talk politics, as archfiends are wont to do. Baldur's Gate: Descent to Avernus ════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╕ Diabolical dangers await in this adventure for the world’s greatest roleplaying game. Welcome to Baldur's Gate, a city of ambition and corruption. You’ve just started your adventuring career, but already find yourself embroiled in a plot that sprawls from the shadows of Baldur's Gate to the front lines of the planes-spanning Blood War! Do you have what it takes to turn infernal war machines and nefarious contracts against the archdevil Zariel and her diabolical hordes? And can you ever hope to find your way home safely when pitted against the infinite evils of the Nine Hell's? Baldur's Gate is among the most iconic locations in fantasy culture. A mist-cloaked metropolis on the Sword Coast, it’s a place of history and a home to heroes. The module introduces the infernal war machines to fifth edition D&D—battle-ready vehicles, which you can customize as you blast off into the Blood War. Campaign Primer System: D&D5e // Starting Level: 1 // End Level: 13 (or higher) ════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╕ Character Creation: Any material from officially published 5e books are allowed, as long as they’re set in the Forgotten Realms, such as the following: Player’s Handbook Sword Coast Adventurer’s Guide Xanathar’s Guide to Everything Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything As well as any player material from adventure books, such as the Archeologist background from Tomb of Annihilation. Official material from outside the Forgotten Realms, such as Guildmaster’s Guide to Ravnica, may be allowed on a case-by-base basis. To generate stats, roll 4d6, and drop the lowest die roll. Do this six times. If the sum total of the rolls results in less than 72, the player can opt to use the Standard Array for their stats (15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8). Additionally, every player can choose one feat at character creation, regardless of their chosen race. For this reason, Variant Human is no longer an option. Text Only Game: A wise man once said if you can't say it better yourself, quote them. 'Because it can provide a better role playing experience, and it is more relaxing. Not everyone is a native English speaker, and most people find it better to write their characters than to voice them. It also allows for a wider variety of RP and better immersion. Of course, there are also people with anxiety or speech problems or just want a great reading experience. There are thousands upon thousands of Voice/Video campaigns out there, but there is definitely a drought in text-based games. People who prefer text needs some love too.' - Renan B. Text actually seems to work out very well for role-play-focused campaigns. Shy players are able to break out of their shells, and people who aren't good actors can still paint one hell of a scene regardless of their acting chops. When and Where : Sessions will be held using Roll20 and Discord three times a month. The campaign time will be Sunday, starting at 10:30 PM EST. Sessions will be at least 3 hours long. Pay to Play If only I was rich, we wouldn't be having this discussion! ════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╕ Let me explain. There are a couple of reasons for this, but firstly based on experience. Throughout most of my games, I found that the ones with people actually getting through the module are the groups with a small fee put behind them. While not overwhelming, it proves that people get invested and get a higher chance of finishing the campaign. Lastly: On my part, there is going to be not only an investment in money up front, but an even larger investment in time throughout the campaign. The Cost : This campaign will be $20 a month per player. Sessions are held three times a month, so the cost will come out to about $7 per session. Though we won't be playing on the off week, I will be using the time to better our campaign. We will be using Patreon for payments. How to Join Fill out the information that is listed below and post it in the games 'Applications' thread. ════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╕ Why do you want to join this campaign? What's your play style and history with D&D? (It's ok if you are new!) How do you handle (or expect to handle) conflict at the table? What's your favorite type of character to play and why? What character do you want to play for this campaign? A little about the real you. Your name, age, and pronoun(s). Game Listing Applications Page A bit about me ════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════╕ Shall we start at the basics? I am a 30 year old Father of one. I currently live in the Southern United States, though at this point I have at the very least been there but probably lived there as well! Spent my high school days getting into everything but games, but quickly found a love for it some time while I should have been at college. I have been playing D&D5e for about 5 years now, I think? Never going longer than a week or so without playing something, if only a one-shot. I like to run a balanced game of combat and role play, 60/40 in favor of the RP. Definitely, a 'rule of cool' Dungeon Master, and don't like to get caught up on what the rule book says. ═══════════════════════════════════════════════════════════════ *This game will require payment to the Game Master at a rate of $20 per month via Patreon. Roll20 is not responsible for any payment transactions and cannot enforce any private arrangements.*
