Can't upload pdf files anymore?

Roll20 used to convert pdf files to jpg upon upload (did so only just a week ago). I just tried to do so, but it would not work at all - storage space available is massive & pdf was only 129kB. Had to convert it to a jpg file myself - making the image 4X larger in the process.....sigh. Why? Why? Why remove this feature??

Check out the recent blog . I'd hazard a guess that work to roll out the pdf upload feature is underway and may have impacted on the old pdf>jpg function? Admittedly that is purely speculation on my part but the coincidence seems too big to discount the theory :) edit: not sure why it would be affecting the non-beta experience though... maybe I'm just plain wrong lol
Exact same problem here. .pdf doesn't work anymore, including files that used to work, not but a week ago. And that recent blog is completely unhelpful, except to basically say f-you. Which is a message.

Hey folks! Sorry about the confusion here. I can confirm this is related to the PDF announcement in that we're currently working on new PDF functionality (which is much, much more than a conversion to .jpg) on Production. There will be more news coming very soon.
I have tried to upload a pdf today 16th August 2022 and couldn't, hope it gets sorted soon...

Hmm. Does this leave Plus and Free users without even the original PDF upload functionality? That sucks. I'm guessing that if so, it will be expanded soon.

I'm happy to announce (and admit I've been waiting in this thread while we finished up the code release to let y'all know) that PDF uploads are now available for all users! You can find out more on our Change Log .

I've tried to upload a simple PDF with 2 pages another with 4 pages, both less than 1mb. The system "processes" the PDF but when I try to access it by clicking on it, all I can see is a tiny thumbnail of a portion of one page and no other option. How can I improve this so players see the entire PDF?
Have you tried to actually add a PDF? If so, you should not have the normal Handout as in your screen but sort of a PDF reader... M.C. OK seen your message so I've just uploaded a PDF. (Super quick upload) 3.96meg 9 pages and they all show. Map page (page 2) was a little slow to view but all ok.
So, yesterday, I tried to upload 2 PDF files.  The first, about 156K, went smoothly.  And, I was able to add it to a second game without uploading again.  Yay! The second, not so much.  The file is larger, about 2.5 MB.  The upload went fine, but its STILL "Being Processed".  Clearly, the problem shouldn't be about size, since it's well under the 100MB preferred max size.  I'm running on Firefox 103.0.2, Windows 10.  I tried opening the pdf handout with Chrome( ver 104.0.5112.102 ), same message

I'm using Edge (which is not supported) as Chrome & Firefox are just too slow and memory hungry and I seem to be able to upload ok.

Yes actually, or else I would have posted under a different topic ;) Here is what I did... Under the Journal tab> +Add> PDF  Then roll20 responds, "uploading PDF" then "scanning for virus" and then it appears in the journal. Clicking on any PDF results in the aforementioned problem.  Using Chrome, PDF is 38kb total. TheMarkus1204 said: Have you tried to actually add a PDF? Nevermind, it was an extension that was causing the problem. It's working now.
Glad you have sorted it I can't upload a PDF of trasfer a PDF from another game now....
I get the following message Unable to read or set data from server. There may be a problem with your session. Try reloading the page to fix this issue. If you are persistently receiving this error, please contact your ISP for support.
Is there a max size to the pdf you try to upload as I've tried multiple times with rather large ones and on both Chrome and firefox it just doesn't finish scanning.?  thanks for any assistance

If you are persistently receiving this error, please contact your ISP for support. I've been getting that same message. It appears when I create a new PDF and select "No, upload PDF now" when it asks "Is the PDF already in your library?" It doesn't give me any options to select a PDF to upload.
Sorry for a late response. I've just uploaded a 3.46meg 5 page PDF. It uploaded very quickly and so it appears it is now working. I'm using Edge as a browser.
