Touch screen functionality for table top gaming table

I have not used roll20 but I am here gathering info to see if it is right for me or can do what I want.  I am wanting to build a tabletop setup for DND gaming.  My ideal is to have a touch screen monitor horizonal on the table.  I would like to have a fog of war, so to speak. so players can only see what is in range. As the character move across the landscape/dungeon visibility moves with them. as they move they can encounter doors, which also hid what is not visible, traps, items, monsters, etc I have been told by an associate that roll20 will do this  Ideally, I would like to use a touch screen so they can move their character, and choose their path, with a finger.  Then place the miniature on top Will roll20 do this

Hi Robert! Apparently it is possible. Here is a nice user setup using a capacitive touchscreen, and miniatures with copper foil on bases. Video  |  Thread You might want to see if you can contact them for pointers.
Excellent that is what I am hoping to obtain.  Do you need a special base on the miniature to react to the touch  screen or is that dependent on the scree itself.

Derek gives a pretty good basic outline of the necessary steps. Essentially, you need the screen and the copper foil on the bases.
