Need Advice for Space-Based Combat Mapping.

Hey, I am considering running a space navy combat in a game.  I was wondering how do other people handle Three Dimensional mapping for space combat.  Either with addons, markers or multi-map shenanigans.  I have limited experience with ship to ship combat in a VTT, but I have done traditional games with Avariel (winged elves), pegasi mounts and dragon-mounted combat.  However, I feel that space combat would be a bit more... involved than that what with space based weapons and extreme variances of XYZ positioning. I have seen a couple of ways of showing elevation - as an entry in a token bubble, a token status, or a separate token positioned next to the main token. I guess you could even make your main token a rollable token image, with elevation shown on that. I believe there are scripts to make it easy to change the visible elevation, whichever method you use.
