These also are layered behind the Zoom bar on the upper-right of the map interface. Now correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't remember character sheets, handouts, etc ever being layered behind the avatars and other things on the map's user interface.

Hi Chaotic Note! This is new behavior, likely related to some work being done on the Roll20 interface. It has been reported in several other threads, but doesn't sound like it's likely to change before the interface overhauls coming in the future (you may have seen some previews if you have responded to any of the popup surveys) It is a bit annoying to folks who are used to having it work the other way, but is probably not permanent.

They are layered behind EVERY control element right now... and it is MORE THAN ANNOYING! But as Keith already mentioned, I too don't think this will change any time soon! (and there are more posts about it)... Let's see how they will change the VTT Interface... If they change it for the worse (which is what will be the case regarding the prototypes they used in their Surveys about it) OR implement it only half (as they did with Dark mode) then I am cancelling my Subscription and switch to foundry...

Is this still a problem for people? I just loaded up a game (Mac, Chrome) and the character sheets are frontmost again. I didn't see a fix mentioned in the changelog. edit : never mind, after a refresh character sheets and handouts are once again obscured by the other UI components.

Issue is still persistent.

Character Sheets and Handouts are now in front of the left control panel... but sadly NOT in front of Zoom Panel, Avatars and Macro Bar / Token-Action Bar... This is known to the Devs and I am waiting for them to fix this annoyance... It looks quite funny if you have put a macro as a token action and put the character sheet right to that position... it is sandwitched between the left control panel and the token-action bar... EDIT: Screenshot of what it actually looks like.
