Selvyn warned us that the water would be poisonous and shouldn't try to drink any. We would still have to cross the river though. We were having a discussion about Wrendell and Samba using their flying abilities to get us over the river without having to even dip a toe. This plan made sense and so we moved over to the bank to form an orderly line to wait our turn. As we were getting into line we noticed someone coming out from the scrub along the river. It seemed to be a small girl with dark hair and ragged clothes. "You shouldn't cross the river. It's dangerous." "We'll be careful young one, No need to worry." replied Wrendell. He clicked his heels and slowly floated into the air. Lea went first. Wrendell picked her up and began to ascend. As the pair rose up, more of the spooky children emerged from the landscape. "We said DON'T CROSS!" and started to move in towards us. Nickolai didn't like the look of this and tried to swat the girl away. As he hit her the girl squealed in pain. Nickolai winced in pain at the sound, grating his nerves. "Eeek. The bad man is hurting me. Make him stop!" I felt compelled to grab Nickolai and stop him from being so cruel to children. Out on the river things were looking a bit worrisome as well. Strom decided that fording the river would be quicker than getting a lift. As he reached the halfway point a grim mist bubbled up from the water and coalesced into dark spectral undead forms of horrific visage. They swarmed over Strom, chilling his blood. Above, Wrendell and Lea moved into position to draw attention away from Strom and to make viable attacks. The ensuing melee was a chaotic nightmare. Screaming gloom children on one side begging us to stay behind. Undead river ghosts on the other trying to drag us under the toxic shadow river. Samba flew up gleaming and I rushed into the river with the Holy Robes of Sister Adelind held aloft to disperse the spirits. Wet, cold, and frightened we somehow we made it to the far side of the river still alive and in one piece.
