Unable to See Map Layer While On Object Layer

Hello! This is my first time using Roll20 as a GM and it's been great so far, I successfully made my first map with no problems but when I started my second map, I was working on the map layer when I noticed everything had gotten darker all of a sudden. I checked the object layer and suddenly there were just tokens floating on nothing. I made sure the fog of war was off, and I don't have access to dynamic lighting, so I don't know what could have caused this. My players also cannot see the map no matter what layer I'm on. I can see the map (although it's dark) when I'm on the map layer, but that is the only time. Hopefully, someone knows what's going on lol

Could you provide screenshots? That would help.
Is it possible that you moved the map to the GM layer by chance? I have done that from time-to-time accidentally, and it will result in floating tokens and a darkened view of the map (GM opacity). If that is the case, just select it and send it back to the map layer. Hoping it is not something more nefarious & welcome to Roll20 GMing!
Here are the screenshots! (All the grass/ buildings are on the map layer, not the gm layer)

Which browser are you using?  Do you have the same problem in other browsers?

Check the gm layer opacity in the map page settings.  Is it set to 100%?

Ooh, this is a new one for me. I'm curious how to re-create this issue, as well as how to solve it. Some probably unhelpful things to try, of the turn-it-off-and-then-back-on variety: - Clear cache and cookies, and refresh the browser. - Open the game in a private/incognito window, to rule out possible extension conflicts.

According to images 1 2 and 3 the GM layer opacity is at about 55% From my quick test, the page specific setting and the slider on the toolbar are NOT the same.  They are different settings. Edit:  Finally in a place where I could take a quick screenshot. This is the page setting I am talking about. When I close that dialogue, the gm layer opacity slider on the toolbar isn't maxed out, and sliding it all the way left doesn't make the map visible again.  I'm not sure if this is a bug, of it is intended to be 2 different settings.  Whichever is the case, the page setting seems to override the one on the toolbar.

To my knowledge there is no "GM Layer opacity" setting in the page settings. The two sliders on the Page Settings control grid opacity (labeled "Opacity") and Fog of War opacity (labeled "GM Darkness Opacity") for the GM. Is there a setting I am not seeing?

I edited my above post while you were posting this. Test out those settings to see if you get the same results.

That is the Fog of War slider.  The original poster stated Fog of War is *off*, so this should not apply.  From EchoingHowls' original post " I checked the object layer and suddenly there were just tokens floating on nothing. And mistakes can happen.  There have been no screenshots of those settings for that map.  This is the only combination I can find that duplicates the issue.

Reasonable. :) EchoingHowls , can you please screenshot the page settings for your page so we can confirm that Fog of War is not the cause?

Alright, time to make sure this isn't a game related issue, can you message me a join link please? I will come look it over.
We found the issue (well, Gauss did lol) I had a black art box on the token layer that (obviously) covered the entire map. I don't remember putting it there or *why* I put it there, but deleting it fixed the problem! Thank you to everyone who tried to help! :D
