October 29, 2018 Monday 1:00PM Avengelyn arrives at the base thinking the Brooklyn Brigade needed her. The exchange between her, Cyberpunk, and Paladin is both heated and cold. She said that Katoric, a seer for MHI (Monster Hunter International) that she works with on occasion told her the Brooklyn Brigade wanted to see her. Katoric also sent a message: the New York Circle (Doctor Arcane, Lady Arcane, Lord Arcane, etc.) is gone. Avengelyn is annoyed as Paladin chastises her for not leaving word with Cardinal Thomas Alessi that she was drawn to Los Angeles to fight the blight. Despite the tension she agrees to stop by St. Ignatius Cathedral and talk to the Cardinal before heading back to L.A. She also agrees to let Katoric know the Brooklyn Brigade would like to talk to him. The last they see of her Avengelyn is heading to the bus stop at the edge of the property. The CWA yell at her for her inappropriate style of dress but Avengelyn ignores them. Kismet uses her retro-cognition to spy into the past of the broom and is able to get the instructions to make it function, it is in fact a Witch’s Flying Broom! After learning its purpose and instructions she takes it for a test flight! She flies over and picks up Sherry Marsh. They buzz the campus a bit even going as far as flying past the Coffee Bean and visiting her Uncle. He wants to borrow the broom but Kismet has plans for it until after Halloween. She tells him maybe he can use it then, maybe. Sherry decides to change her costume for Halloween. She wants to go as a sexy witch too. Sherry selects a thin, almost transparent, black knee long dress to replace her previous costume. To completing the look she adds a pointed hat and knee high boots. Sherry wants to wear just the dress and nothing underneath for extra naughtiness. She seems to be more pleased with this outfit than the bat-pirate costume that her boyfriend Spencer picked out for her. Kismet suggests that she wear panties because the wood of the broom is old and gnarled. She wouldn’t want to get splinters in sensitive areas. Sherry suggests the broom get sanded but until then she agrees with Kismet’s suggestion. Kismet also seems to he pleased with Sherry’s change in costume. 6:30 PM Paladin and Cyberpunk go to talk to Taboo. She is an exotic dancer at Dante’s Inferno (the Brigade was momentarily concerned because they thought that the Hell’s Belles also performed there but they are the signature band at the Devil’s Hideaway not Dante’s Inferno). Taboo demonstrates her powers unspectacularly to the two guys but she is still willing to help if they need her. She is free Wednesday and Thursday nights and anytime before 6PM. Paladin makes note of that and they leave. Meanwhile Kismet ponders how DEMON was able to get rid of so many heroes including the New York Circle during the battle with the Saiettas on October 24 th . She begins to make plans to try to find out. The group remembers the first Exodus took place as a rogue comet streaked through Earth’s solar system. Cyberpunk wonders what happened to the Green Lantern Corps. Paladin tells him they are gone, vanished in the same Exodus that cleaned out the A-lister heroes and villains of Earth. He was informed of this while on the planet Ubudgin in the Thalok Empire. He and Shifter were there to rescue Xela’s parents from the space pirate crew of the Galactic Marauders. The Galactic Marauders are the same space pirates that Kei and Yuri were on Earth trying to track down when they arrived 14 days ago. Paladin also knows that a group of space police who have been trying to fill the void left when the Green Lanterns vanished. They were called Star Guardians. While they are good they are not up to the task that the Lanterns left behinde. October 30, 2018 Tuesday After Kismet’s morning classes she heads over to the base to check on things. The CWA are there, starting their protests around the time the sun rises but there are fewer of them this morning than yesterday. The prediction of their getting bored and going home seems to be coming to pass. She dons a smiley-face masks and joins the protest for a while to mess with them. Cyberpunk drops his 10 year old sister Sara Volkov off at school then he also heads for the base. On the way he buys cookies and hands them out to the remaining protesters (and Kismet?). Paladin is on monitor duty until a call from Lilli Montoria, the vampire head of the New York branch of the Camarilla, gives him a call. She is struggling to stay awake after dawn but says it is important that she see the group. Cyberpunk and Paladin head off to Post Nuclear, Lilli’s club. A young man meets them outside and escorts them in. Lilli thanks Oscar, offers the men a drink (which they refuse) and continues to struggle against the morning. She explains that she got word from a friend of hers that the Sabbat is going to try to kill Paladin very soon. An assassin Sabbat vampire is in town and gunning for him. She warns that she thinks the job will go down tonight. Cyberpunk angers her by asking why they should trust her? Lilli goes on a minor rant about how the Camarilla, the group of vampires she represents, are the good vampires who want to live in peace with humanity while Darius Vonner is a member of the Sabbat. The Sabbat is a group of evil vampires that want to conquer the human race and only leave enough humans alive to serve as slaves and a ample food supply. Darius Vonner is a Sabbot member who entered town a while ago who is also rumored to be a member of Raven. It is he that the assassin is here to take orders from. Cyberpunk makes arrangements for his sister to spend the night with a friend of hers named Jenny. Jenny’s mom says that Sara is always a joy and she is welcome anytime. That afternoon Jenny’s mom says that Sara did not come home with her, did something happen? Cyberpunk scours the security feed from the school and saw Sara willingly go with a lady completely covered by dark clothing, even a veil across her face. They got in a large black car and drove away. Using sctreetcams he follows the car until it vanishes from the streets. Kismet uses Mind Scan to try to find the girl. Despite her best efforts and taking a considerable amount of extra time to prepare she finds nothing. The phone rings and Paladin answers it. There is a woman on the other end of the line. When the connection is made Cyberpunk follows the line to where the caller is. Kismet uses the mind link so that Paladin and Kismet can join them in a dingy room in an apartment building. The woman identifies herself as Dulce. She says that Sara will be returned unharmed is Paladin comes with her. Dulce claims that Paladin won’t be harmed either as long as he come to the appointment. Neither side is willing to trust the other. Dulce threatens Sara’s life saying that a 10 year old vampire would be something amazing to see. Cyberpunk blasts her. She endures the blast, it hurts a lot, but she isn’t stunned or rendered unconscious. She takes precautions after surviving the blast. Dulce and Paladin strike a bargain. Sara will be returned, unharmed, at midnight and then Paladin will be restrained and come with her. Dulce wants the mind link dropped and for no one to follow them. Dulce claims to be unable to reach the people who have Sara, there is a schedule, it will be followed. She insists on it several times as the two parties talk (The Brooklyn Brigade and Dulce). After the deal is struck Kismet and Cyberpunk leave the dingy little apartment. Kismet resumes scanning for Sara, expanding the area and taking a lot of extra time to have the best shot of finding the 10 year old. Cyberpunk goes and recruits Deslee to try to find her from the dream realm. He then contacts Lilli Montoria to use her resources to locate the girl. Then they wait. 11:30 PM Lilli contacts Cyberpunk and tells him that Sara is being lead to the Bunker by a pack of wolves. Cyberpunks asks wolves? How? She says that feral dogs in the area and ruminants of wolf packs that eluded man as their areas were stripped away from them could have formed the pack She also suggests that Darius Vonner might have just brought them with him. She also confirms for him that some vampires can change shapes. Are the wolves vampires? Maybe. Cyberpunk intercepts the pack from above then swoops in and pulls Sara to safety and away from the very angry wolves. He then broadcasts a repeat of all the interactions he had with the Sabbat assassin Dulce on every channel he can broadcast on. He also puts the feed on every social network he can think of. He texts Lilli that he is sorry. He then puts Dulce's on the most wanted list of the police and FBI. Via the mind link Paladin is informed that Sara is safe. He does not tell Dulce waiting for someone in her cabal to let her know their bargaining chip is gone. October 30, 2018 Tuesday 12:01AM At midnight Dulce tells Paladin that he should have been informed that the girl has been delivered and it is time to go. She tells him to put on superior handcuffs (that look like they were stolen from PART) and she would lead the way. Paladin declines saying that the circumstances have changed. Dulce says that she can not contact her people; they have a schedule to keep. Paladin tells her that Sara has already been rescued and that her cohorts abandoned her. Dulce last words to Paladin are ‘I will have my revenge for this embarrassment’. Surprisingly he does not try to take her into custody. He just leaves and heads back to the super secret base. He asks Kismet if the vampires could sense or break into the mind link. Sensing the mind link would not be that hard if one of the vampires was sensitive to mental powers (i.e. having mental awareness). Kismet says breaking into the mind link is possible, if they were very powerful, but she felt it would be unlikely. - Epilogue: Darius Vonner never trusted the Brooklyn Brigade, and the Brooklyn Brigade did not trust him. Vonner hide the girl with an Obfuscate discipline called Viel the Mind and Body. And while she was in his possession he used a Dominate discipline called Enslave to enslave the girl much faster than forming a Blood Bond with her. Vonner did have the child drink heavily of his blood giving her the powers of a Ghoul that would last for about a month. Cyberpunk, realizing that his sister was in danger from his chosen lifestyle, and afraid that the vampires would seek revenge on him for his doing his best to expose the Masquerade to the human population, gathered up their belongings and fled to Kansas (or some equally obscure place on the globe). Wherever Sara and Cyberpunk wind up, one night before the Ghoul powers Vonner expire, she will boost her strength to 21, grow claws (2d6K h-t-t, 3d6+1 w/ STR) and try to kill Cyberpunk while he is asleep but at the last moment she will stop herself. She will kiss her big brother while he is sleeping and turn her claws upon herself so Vonner can never use her against Cyberpunk or any of the heroes who have become extended family to her again. I leave it to Cyberpunk as to if he is able to get her to a doctor and save her life or not. Regardless she will need years of therapy to overcome the Enslave discipline and likely be scarred for life from it. If she lives by the time she is a young adult (18 to 20) she might be able to have a reasonably normal life.
