Editing the Maps of purchased Modules

Hi all, I'm going to be DM a version of Lost Mine of Phandelver for some friends soon but I didnt want to do the vanilla module. I have several ideas to change it, but I dont even know where to begin trying to edit the maps in order to make it work. Is there an article someone could point me to that can walk me through it at a technophobic boomer level of instruction? Any help would be very appreciated
You would have better luck to search the web for alternate Phandelver maps or just use any map software to create new maps altogether. You can then import the new maps in your game, setup the grid like you want it and start dropping token on it. Roll20 doest not allow us to "edit" the content we purchase on their site :(
There’s no built-in editing function for images on Roll20. But if you want simple changes to maps, then you can always upload images (such as adding a table image to an empty room) to the map layer to add flavor in that way. But for more extensive changes you’ll really need to use photo editing software of some kind.

Hi Mark! You have as much edit control over an installed module as if you had created the entire thing from scratch. Even if Roll20 wanted to change a map, they would have to upload a new image. (i.e. Roll20 is not image editing software). You can download any existing image by selecting it, pressing the Z key on your keyboard, and right clicking on it to get the image address. To make sure you get the best quality, if the image has "thumb.png" or "med.png" in the URL, replace that with "original.png". Delete anything after and including the question mark at the end. Download that, edit it, and upload your edited change.
These maps will be almost impossible to change unless you have some photoshop skills and banks of asset images. However, if you want to recreate them in another program and make changes as you see fit there, the best and easiest to use program for making your own maps is Dungeondraft.
Dungeon draft is good for exteriors. I prefer dungeon alchemist on my side that does interior and exterior. Also the 3d functionality can let you take some screen capture that you can show your players as a handout.
