Roll for Effect Macro?

I'm trying to come up with a custom macro that lets me have the player roll a die and it outputs what the result of that roll would equate to.  Think of it similar to a wild magic role in D&D, but as the results of an investigation action in a homebrew system.  The thing is, when I look up how to make a wild magic table in Roll 20, I just get people saying to import an actual table, not how I would go about building it.  Is there somewhere y'all can direct me so that I can build one for myself?
It sounds like you want to build a Rollable Table . There's an embedded video on that wiki link that goes through the process of creating and using a rollable table.

If you just want to enter your information into a rollable table, click on the hamburger menu at the top of the Chat panel in game (just left of the gear icon). Scroll down to "Rollable Tables" and hit +Add . You can enter your items here, one at a time, and give them a "weight" for how likely they are to be rolled. If your system would represent 20 equal chances to get 1 out of 20 things, then an equal weight to all would be fine. However, if your system would say that some of the returns are harder to get, you might want varied weights... eg, 3 for the common, 2 for the uncommon, and 1 for the rare. It's up to you. When you're ready to test it, you can type it as an inline roll: [[1t[YourTableName]]] ...or using the /roll command: /roll 1t[YourTableName] ... More info ...

Thanks for the help!  That looks like what I'm looking for! Edit:  Wait, are we only able to add pics, not descriptions?  I mean, I guess I could edit in description text *as* an image or something, but... it'd probably be easier if it let me just add formatted text to the result

Each table 'item' is the result that will be put into chat. So the name of the item is the description that you want to show to your players.
