"*The age of the orc is at hand.*
*For centuries the mead halls have lain silent; the hollowed manors of dwarven lords all but forgotten, lost to the ruins of war and the dominion of the orc. The Iron Court and the Caldaran thanes of yore were but a bulwark of broken shields before the thrall of Sul'Kathan, who made graves of the mountains and reduced the great stone palaces of Taarn and Dun'Khalir to mere relics of their clannish follies.*
*Now the hour grows late for the surviving dwarves of Caldari. Long gone are the gilded days of dwarvenkind, when giants knelt before the thanes of Veranesht and the High Kilns trembled with the dinn of their mighty craft. Four hundred years have passed since any dwarf has called the mountains home and for four hundred bitter years have the stout folk endured the cruelty of orcish masters. Most live and die by their lash and few have been fortunate enough to know freedom or a home of their own. Those who yet elude the rule of Sul'Kathan have eked out a life on the fringes, seeking refuge in the wilds of Loryn or the deep roads of Dun'Khalir, while others make scarce their dwarvish pride and prostrate themselves like stray dogs before the thrones of fey kings.*
*Now, heeding the rallying cry of King Remius and his prophecies of the Living Mountain, many set their eyes northward, to High Caillenholm, a land long abandoned to ice and the dark of winter..."*

You have answered the call of King Remius III Firmfoot, son of Gaius, who first endeavored to unite the liberated clans of north Loryn under a single banner. In the wake of his father's failed insurrection against the legions of Sul'Kathan, Remius petitioned the fey kings for use of elven ships, that he and his kin might cross the merciless waters of the Brynenghast and find haven in the lands beyond. After several years of deliberation, a half dozen ships were granted, and Remius guided his followers northward, spurred on by visions and legends of the Living Mountain; the fabled ancestral home of the dwarves.
Though in time the quest to find the Living Mountain was abandoned, the journey north met its end 50 years ago atop the ruins of an old castle, half entombed in ice and stone. It was there that Remius and company founded Graywell Keep and there fashioned a new home for dwarvenkind.
For the past 50 years, rumors of Remius' expedition and his new haven has spread throughout Greater Veranesht. Many dwarves in captivity cling to Graywell as a beacon of hope while those can make the journey set their berrings northward.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
**What is this?**
Hey folks, I'm looking to wrangle a good handful of players for a 'West-Marches' style campaign set in the far north of Caldari, a homebrewed world of my own creation. This will be an All-Dwarf campaign (for the PC's anyway) set firstly in Graywell, the last true stronghold of the Dwarves. This campaign is set before the age of man, during a time of orcish dominion. It will be up to you to forge the new destiny of the stoutfolk- and whether that takes the form of reclaiming ancestral mountain homes, taking revenge upon the orcish menace, or more personal/hedonistic pursuits will be entirely up to you. This is ultimately a sandbox adventure, so players should be comfortable bringing their own goals and aspirations to the table - If you are unfamiliar with this style of play, I recommend watching Matt Colvilles videos on west-marches play or reading this first: [https://theangrygm.com/angry-open-world/](https://theangrygm.com/angry-open-world/) .
The end goal here is to create a small community of players. There will not be a regular scheduled time and you will not be expected to attend every session. Rather, West-Marches play revolves around the flexibility of having a more dynamic player group where players can come and go, and groups are comprised of whoever is currently willing and available to play. That said, I am on the east coast and will most likely be available for evening sessions during the week and some, but fewer sessions on weekends.
*If you're interested in joining, you can apply by sending me a message with a little about yourself and interests in D&D along with any questions you might have for me and the game*.
**The Game**The campaign will be set in a more or less low/dark fantasy world. We will be using various house rules, including crit-tables, lingering injuries, and variant rest. Downtime activities between sessions will likely feature prominently. Depending on how many players we can wrangle and how quickly that happens, the west-marches aspect of this game may be somewhat postponed until we have enough folks for varied groups, however certain hexcrawl elements and explortory themes will be preserved. (Depending on the number of players and what yall feel like, we may choose to start the campaign with an escape scenario or before your northward journey to Graywell - however the intent is to run Graywell as 'homebase' for at least a portion of the campaign)We will be using Roll20 and discord for voice and other server features. We will be using detailed custom maps made with inkarnate and I will be making use of roll20's dynamic lighting features.Character Race is limited to dwarf, though I will provide additional subrace variants and I'm not expecting everyone to roleplay with a scottish accent.
\*Rolled stats, Official WoTC content only, UA & Tashas pending approval**Requirements**
18+I ask that players be both familiar with fifth edition rules and comfortable with roleplay- you needn't be a voice actor, but I will always encourage the use of voices in my games and prefer players act their characters out over mere description of their actions. If the idea of conversational roleplay does not appeal to you, this may not be the game for you.All players should have a reliable, buzz-free, microphone - we may use web cameras if players prefer it, but as of now it is not a requirement.Players ideally should be able to commit to sessions 4-6 hours in length on the days of their choosing.
