[LFG] Brand New Player looking to get into the game.

Hey Everyone!  About a month or so ago I came across the Dimension 20 and Critical Role youtube channel, and I got absolutely hooked.  I've played DND once before several years ago, but now I would really like to dig into the game and community to see what it has to offer!  I'm most familiar with 5e as I have bought and read most of the Player's Handbook by this point.  I'm very open-minded when it comes to different versions or homebrews since I know very little lore about the game itself.  I will provide my availability as well as some minor preferences below.  Feel free to PM me if you have any interest in this or just have questions.  Thank you! Availability :  Tuesday Evenings or Wednesday morning/afternoon,  Friday Evenings or Saturday morning/afternoon.  (Wednesdays and Saturdays can't run super late into the evening, as I wake up at 3 a.m. for work.) Minor Preferences :  The only thing I'd like to add is that if I'm asked to start in the middle of an ongoing campaign, I'd like to not start off at a super high level as this would give me the chance to really learn my class and establish any necessary backstory. Welcome! New player posts like this one deserve more eyes on them. Finding the right group(s) on R20 can be a process First, in addition to this post I'd apply to several games via LFP posts or "join a game" directory. Many DMs are happy to facilitate new and excited players. Be sure to actually read the listing and don't copy/paste applications, but applying to several games is a good idea. I know for myself, I'm much more interested in learning about the Player rather than their Character. Temper your expectations. Brennan and Matt are full-time professional DMs with some incredible players, and while DMs do our best, it's unlikely you'll jump into a game that runs so smoothly. In fact, you will almost certainly have to experience a couple of games that aren't what you're looking for or are downright bad before finding a group you gel with. Each group is different, so be aware of letting any one game or group define for you how it's all "supposed" to work, and don't be afraid to drop games that don't suit you. Keep at it and you'll find your own fun and I wish you all the luck in the world in finding new friends to share it with!
