Brand new to TTRPG - PLEASE HELP!

Hello! I am brand new to this, and would really appreciate some advice in where to even start. If it helps you understand how new I am, I have played games of Demeo, that's all I got unfortunately. This looks like something I will really enjoy, and the community around it seems great, so hopefully someone can point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance.

Hi, Regarding dungeons and dragons 5e, which has a lot of games on here, this is my advice: I would suggest using tutorials to help you make your first character, whether it's a written tutorial or video. This is a written one that seems ok: https://www.nerdolopedia.com/articles/2018/4/12/a-step-by-step-guide-to-dd-5e-character-creation You can get all the info you need for making the character building decisions from the site 5etools .com Alternatively, if you have a game shop (dnd type) near you, see if they have Adventurer's League days/nights, and go there early and have someone help you make a character. They will also guide you through your first adventure. If you don't have that available, I would start listening to or watching a dnd podcast, which will give you an idea of what a game might be like, and what dice rolling folks do. If you find a podcast with at least one new player, they talk about the dice rolling more than in others. For instance the podcast The Dice Girls has some brand new players. (It's not my favorite podcast, but it's useful info) Also, the Adventure Zone, the Balance (first) campaign. (With that one, the first couple episodes are very crude, but they clean up their act quickly and become pure delight) Once you have an idea of how to make a character sheet and maybe a tiny idea of how to play, check out postings that mention new players, and go for it! I hope this info helps you!
if u would like im in a kingdom building server message me if intrested
I'm getting a group together now. It's not D&D 5e, which is by far the most popular system. However, I'm willing to teach if you're willing to learn. Dungeon Crawl Classics is not a hard system to learn, especially if you don't have to unlearn 5e. Jorphdan's Jocular Junction has a few great videos about this system. https://app.roll20.net/lfg/listing/347725/gongfarmers-paradise Take a look and let me if you're interested.

Ferby, it would help to connect with a DM if you could disclose your time zone, and the days and times you are available within that zone. This site serves the planet.
